Introduction
South Africa is a world-class safari destination, with a number of superb game lodges in private reserves offering outstanding game viewing and incredible value formoney.
Londolozi and MalaMala are two of South Africa’s pioneering private game reserves in prime wilderness areas along the Sand River, in the heart of the Sabi SandsPrivate Game Reserve. Both share unfenced borders with the Kruger Park – an immense protected area of more than two million hectares. We have chosen twoexclusive lodges in this region which is renowned for some of South Africa’s finest Big Five encounters, an impressive diversity of general game and excellentbirdwatching.
This land has been protected for the last hundred years or so, and as a result, the wildlife is relaxed in the presence of game viewing vehicles. These private reservesoffer the freedom to explore off-road with highly experienced guides. There are very few other vehicles, offering exclusive game viewing and some of the bestphotographic opportunities in the country.
Both lodges are within easy reach of major airports. A few days in Cape Town, an Indian Ocean island retreat, or time spent with rare mountain gorillas in Rwandacould complement this trip, and may be added either before or after your safari.

Londolozi Game Reserve has private traversing rights over a vast area of prime game viewing terrain. Famous for its incredible leopard sightings, this reserve alsoproduces spectacular big game viewing, a huge diversity of smaller species, and fantastic birdwatching.
Londolozi Varty Camp is a stunning small lodge on the historic site of the original family camp which was founded almost a century ago. Accommodation isluxurious, with elegant suites, private plunge pools and a classic safari style. The lodge’s unique photo hub allows you to have your images professionally edited andprinted so you can take your best shots home with you. For those interested in community involvement, it is possible to spend time with the local staff behind thescenes at various ongoing projects..

MalaMala Game Reserve is one of South Africa’s largest private reserves, and shares an unfenced border with the Kruger National Park and the Sabi Sands PrivateReserve. Wildlife is free to move throughout this protected area, which ensures an almost constant flow of animals drawn to the Sand River, and makes MalaMala’sconsistent reputation for delivering world class game viewing hard to beat.
The lodge itself has a colonial feel with vintage touches throughout. Vast sumptuous suites with double bathrooms and private plunge pools overlook the river,where wildlife is frequently seen. Expect world class hospitality in a fabulous setting.
