Essential Question: How do I say that multiple people did
something in the PAST in Spanish?
Ejemplo: Hablar – to talk / speak
Drop the –ar and add the correct ending:
-amos Nosotros -asteis Vosotros
-aron Ellos, ellas, ustedes
Nosotros hablamos = we spoke
Ejemplo: Barrer – to sweep Describir – to describe
Drop the –er/-ir and add:
-imos Nosotros -isteis Vosotros
-ieron Ellos, ellas, ustedes
Ellos describieron = They described Nosotros describimos = We described
The verb ‘ir’ means to go has an irregular conjugation in the preterite.
Nosotros fuimos = We went Vosotros fuisteis = You went Ellos(as)/Ustedes fueron = They went
Ejemplo= Ellos fueron al estadio. They went to the stadium.
The verb hacer is also irregular when conjugated in the preterite tense.
Nosotros hicimos – We did / We made
Vosotros hicisteis – You did / You made
Ellos(as)/Ustedes hicieron– They did / They made
Ejemplo: Nosotros hicimos la tarea. ¿Hicieron ellos ejercicio? Ellas hicieron el proyecto.
