Fats• Examples: dairy, nuts, some meats, etc.….• Helps produce cholesterol• A component food• Good/unsaturated fat are both: monounsaturated
& polyunsaturated• Types:• good fat (Unsaturated)• bad fat ( saturated & trans fat)
Proteins• Examples: beef, poultry, fish, eggs etc.…• Builds, maintains and replaces tissues• Protects you from disease• Types:• Simple (Amino acids) • Conjugated (glycoproteins)• Organs and immune are made of this
Vitamins• Examples: (A)- carrots, (C)- oranges, & (B)- leafy greens,
etc…• Helps your body grow and develop• Main vitamins: A, B & C • Found in water & fat• Fat soluble (stay stored in your body for awhile)• Water soluble (travel through bloodstream)• In the foods we eat• Helps growth, energy, tissue repair, waste removal, etc….• Types: • fat soluble • water soluble
Minerals• Examples: red meat, waters, pills, etc...• Builds strong bones• transmits nerve impulses• Potassium- strengthens nervous & muscles
