ESSENDON AIRPORT

Aviation is at the heart of Essendon Fields. Without aviation, no landside/non-aviation development would be possible. That’s how the airport lease with The Commonwealth works; the majority of Essendon Fields is dedicated to aviation uses, with the remaining land being developed consistent with the site’s primary use as an airport.

CITY AIRPORT MELBOURNE

AVIATION

Essendon Fields recognises that a strong heart is vital for general health. As such, significant funds have been invested into the Essendon Airport infrastructure over the past decade and this will continue into the future. $20 million has recently been invested (2015); $8 million for a major overlay of the East-West runway that will significantly enhance the safety and operation of flights in and out of the airport and a further $12 million on two new state-of-the-art aircraft hangars enhancing Essendon Airport’s reputation as Australia’s premier Corporate Jet and Regional Services Airport. This is the most significant privately funded investment at a non-capital city airport in more than a decade and demonstrates a real commitment to the future of Essendon Fields as a viable airport.

If aviation is the heart of Essendon Fields, our landside developments are our lungs. Our heart keeps us alive and our lungs breathe life into Essendon Fields for visitors to enjoy in so many different ways.
