DAY 1 | WELCOME WELCOME! Today, and after airport formalities, you will be collected outside customs, and transferred, by Deluxe vehicle with English speaking chauffeur, to Quinta da Bela Vista Hotel. DAY 2| FUNCHAL

Funchal is Madeira Island's capital in Portugal. Its name is supposed to have originated from the luxuriant growth of fennel there. Known as a port of call between the West Indies and the Mediterranean countries, Funchal had been famous as a wealthy port for wine and Madeiran sugar. It is a place of exquisite beauty which is still a port of call for cruisers of the Atlantic. The climate of Funchal is more or less constantly pleasant by virtue of it being regulated by the sea.

Meet and greet your expert chauffeur at the dock. Venture on a 4-wheel scenic drive to the West Coast of the Island. Marvel with the small charming coastal village of Ribeira Brava and its Church, dating from the XVII Century.

Deep ravines, winding roads, cultivated fields falling into the sea and an abundance of Mediterranean and tropical plants are typical features of southern Madeira. The charming fishing village of Camara de Lobos, a favourite spot of Winston Churchill is one of the few places on the island which has remained untouched by the passing of time. Further west is the scenic viewpoint of Cabo Girao, famed as Europe’s second highest sea cliff (more than 500 metres above sea level) and the coastal town of Calheta immersed amongst flourishing vineyards and banana plantations. Next is a visit of Madeira’s hinterland, passing by Serra d’Água valley until reaching the top of Encumeada (3007 feet high). From here it is possible to enjoy the entire view of northern and southern coasts. The interior is a region of high peaks and deep ravines covered in lush green vegetation. The Serra de Agua mountain range offers nature trails for walkers of all competence levels. Stop at plateau of Paul da Serra (4500 feet high). Return to Funchal along the southern coast. Lunch with be at Casa Madeirense Restaurant, typically traditional, friendly and homely atmosphere. The house specialty is the Madeira cuisine, with seafood always fresh. After lunch your driver will take you back to your Hotel.

DAY 03 | FUNCHAL

Filled with history, cosmopolite, culture and a wonderful life, Funchal has much to see and admire. Funchal charms with its ambiance, not only for the many quality services and quite developed and organized tourist industry, but also for its delightful monuments, history, activities, infra-structures to enjoy the best of one’s leisure moments, a luxuriant nature, and unequal landscapes of great beauty. With the help of your expert guide visit the first city built by the Portuguese in its maritime expansion in the XV Century, Funchal. You will start by visiting the Sta. Catarina Chapel, one of the first churches to be constructed in the island, and will continue to the Cathedral, dating back to the XV Century. Your tour will continue to the Lavradores Market, one of the highlights that Madeira has to offer, where all the scents, the colors, the flavors and tradition join together to delight those who visit it. Before returning to your hotel, you will visit the Botanical garden with its wide variety of trees and plants, brought from all over the world, some of which endemic. The Garden’s landscapes and the amazing surroundings are breathtaking, in an idyllic ambiance that deserves to be known.
