Creating Rule file

Creating Rule file.

Navi gation: Right Click on rule file.

Or Right click on Data Base Click on Create -> Rules file.

After that Data Prep Editor will openes

We have to open the Data File which we have to load to build the dimension.

Navigation: File -> open Data File

Navigate the Data File for the selection.It will be in the File System.

The file will be open in the type of the fields for Dimension Building.Now we have to set the dimension building settings.

Click on the Dimension build Fields.

Click on the field properties to assign the fields to the dimension.

Now Fiels Properties screen will be open.Here we have to select the Dimension Build Properties Tab.

Double click on the dimension, Field type,which you want to update.

If it was Generation Reference Method Give number 2 in the ending of the Properties.

Click on the Next.

Select up to the last field in the same way.

Save the Rules File.

Navigate : File -> Save

Save the Rul;es File in the Essbase Server.

Double Click on the Outline.

Go to outl line tab and click on the Update out line.

In the update outline window find the data file and Find the Rules File Which we created for the Dimension Building.

After that we will find Dimension Build Completed Screen here we can know Whether the Dimension Building was Suceeded or Errored out.

Click on Close Go and Check the Out File whether The Dimension Building was done or Not.

Save the Out Line.
