1. How to log into ESR Self Service - using a smartcard Place your smart card into the reader, enter your passcode and click OK
Next select your role and click OK
Next click the NHS ESR icon on the PC desk top

Click Log in via Smartcard
The ESR Portal page will open

How to log into ESR Self Service (using a username and password)
Click on the NHS ESR icon on the PC desk top
Enter your username/password into the boxes below and click Log in via Usernames Password
The ESR Portal page will open

2. How to view your statutory/mandatory compliance record Click My Compliance and Competency from the ESR Portal page
This page shows you all the competencies you are required to complete in Green, Amber or Red. Any competencies that you have gained that either we no longer use or are not required for your role are in Blue.
The Blue competencies can be removed by selecting Required Competencies Only and clicking the Go button
If you have more that one assignment/job role you can select which one you want to view by using the drop down arrow and clicking Go

You will now have a list of the competencies/courses that are required for your role. Green = compliant Amber = 3 months until expiry Red = expired
Alternatively, you can select My Learning from the ESR Portal page
This page will list all competence requirements that have expired or have less than 3 months left to expire on the left hand side

3. How to book a classroom training session
Follow the steps in sections 1&2, next click on the Find Learning icon (magnifiying glass) for the competency/course that you would like to book.
Under Courses, click on the icon for Offering Details
If there isnt an icon in the Offering Details box this means that this course needs to be completed by Certification (e-learning). A guide on how to complete training by e-learning can be found on the intranet Library page https://intranet.mkuh.nhs.uk/library/e-learning. Decide which date and time you would like to attend from the selection on offer and click on the Enrol icon
Click on Apply to confirm the booking

You will receive a confirmation e-mail and the following message on screen if your booking has been successful
If you receive the message below you have not been successful in enrolling as the class is full. The message will ask you if you still want to enrol in the class. If you select Yes, if a place becomes available you will be automatically enrolled on the class and receive a notification by e-mail. If you click No you will need to select another date.
To view your prebooked classroom sessions click on the Enrolments tab on the Learner Homepage or My Learning

4. How to cancel a booking Click on My Learning from the ESR Portal page
Select the Enrollments tab
Next click on the Unenrol icon

Select a reason for cancelling from the drop down box and click on Finish
5. How to print or save your Statutory/Mandatory Training record
If you require a copy of your training record for your appraisal, revalidation or for a new employer,
please follow the steps below. There are two methods, please select the one that is most
appropriate for your needs.
Method 1
Click on My Talent Profile from the ESR Portal page

Next click on Printable Profile (Full)
Click on the Refresh button until an icon appears in the Output box
Click on the icon
Your Talent Profile will appear on the screen and can be saved or printed using the normal tools
below.
Method 2
Click on My Compliance & Competency from the ESR Portal page

Next click on Printable Page
You will then have a printable page that can be printed or Saved to your PC by using File from the
Menu bar

Select the printer that you want to send the document to and then click on Print
Alternatively to save the document to your computer, select Microsoft Print to PDF instead of a hard copy printer.
Next click on Print

Select the location where you want to save the PDF document, name the file and click Save
