Page 2: Esprit de pavie presentation

“The owner of the renowned Pavie, Pavie Decesse, Monbousquet and Bellevue Mondotte estates, Gerard Perse has now created “Esprit de Pavie”. This wine comes from the finest terroirs of gravel, clay and clay-limestone soils situated on Dordogne valley hillsides with full southern exposure.”

“The wine possesses a deep ruby color, with diverse aromas of very ripe black fruit joined by spicy and smoky notes. Round and fleshy

in the mouth, the palate is enriched by a fine body enveloping firm tannins. The finish is

mouthwatering and succulent. An attractive wine which does honor to its appellation.”

Henrique Da Costa

A FAMILY HISTORY, AND CREATING A TRULY EXCEPTIONAL WINE HERITAGE

Over the course of various visits to Saint-Emilion during the nineties, Gerard Perse fell under the spell of this magnificent village, a true masterpiece of medieval architecture, perched on high and surrounded by vines.

After creating and developing successfully a group of large supermarkets in Paris, Gerard Perse’s dream was to become a vine grower and to live out his passion. With 8 brothers and sisters, he was more than familiar with the price of hard work and responsibility. At a very

young age, with his solitary character and exacting standards, he already stood apart from his siblings. A self-taught perfectionist, and a visionary with a passion, he was increasingly ruled by his heart, though never lost sight of his sense of reason. And so in 1993, Gerard Perse bought Chateau Monbousquet and made his first tentative steps into viticulture, following in the wake of a number of illustrious families. But with the Chateau in need of a complete overhaul, work began with building new winemaking and ageing facilities as a priority. In 2006,

Chateau Monbousquet received the recognition of its peers and was awarded Grand Cru Classe status.

With a growing passion for viticulture and winemaking, Gerard Perse carried out a succession of property acquisitions, starting in 1997 with Chateau Pavie Decesse, followed by Chateau Pavie in 1998 and Bellevue Mondotte in 2001. He also invested in several additional properties in Castillon- Cotes de Bordeaux, just 5km east of Saint- Emilion, which all enjoy the same southerly exposure and clay-limestone terroir, continuing on from the famous Cote Pavie. This much-coveted right bank location would not disappoint and provided the opportunity for Gerard Perse to manage these smaller, more personal estates, where not only the terroir, but also man’s expertise, express their true potential.

This self-taught perfectionist and visionary with a passion is responsible for writing one of the finest pages in the history of Bordeaux, creating a legacy of legendary wines for more than a decade.

THE CONCEPT

QUESTIONS:

How can we communicate the philosophy of Gerard Perse’s wines to a wider audience of wine enthusiasts?

How can we introduce a high quality, attractively priced wine, bearing our unique, easily recognisable brand signature, to consumers?

And why ultimately follow the rest of the wine market and offer wines labelled by individual property?

Why indeed. Once again, Gerard Perse, with his visionary and innovative approach, has opted to create a unique wine, made from grapes originating across the entire range of Gerard Perse properties; an ambitious blend, with the most prestigious of brand signatures:Esprit de Pavie.

Esprit de Pavie is a wine that can be enjoyed equally in its youth, as after several years cellaring. Its style emulates that of its prestigious lineage: fruit-driven, round, mature and well-balanced.
