duodecimal numerology. ut however eleven numerical a!es and four circles form&& positions or key points# that is near to number &' and is comparable to letters of

Slavic alphabet# but one position is empty. In some sources of information it is possible to find data on 44 characters in the

Slavic alphabet, namely about alphabetic sign which in essence is a variantof letter . Or about alphabetic sign which is a variant of letter .

But however number of Cyrillic letters is not casual as Slavic alphabet has sacral sense which forms metalinguistic azbua, and conse!uently it is necessary to

consider 4" alphabetic characters, and to consider one empty position withincircular matri# of numerical signs of duodecimal numerology.

*ifferent colors on the chart notes positions according to which Cyrillic lettersform symmetric and regular spatial geometrical figures.Blue color notes Cyrillic letters which form spatial figure which issymmetric concerning first numerical a!is of circular numerological matri!.

Metalinguistic formula and letters of Slavic alphabet.

The metalinguistics is fantastical or mystical understanding of letters and words# as

alphabetic symbols are considered as graphic signs which designate not onlysounds of speech but also philosophical concepts and categories. Namely letters of

alphabet from the view point of metalinguistics are elements of language or logicsigns which mean esoteric or otherwise to tell supernatural sense of human speech.

"nd words in the conte!t of metalinguistics are alphabetic combinations whichspecify not only dictionary semantic meanings but also comple! philosophical

concepts and categories# or mystical values e!isting besides ordinary linguistics.Philosophical categories and mystical values of letters are names which form sacrala/buka or metalinguistic construction of formula according to which the structure

of alphabet is systemati/ed."lphabetic signs have no names in contemporary )ussian alphabetic system# but

primary letters of Slavic alphabet or Cyrillics possess denominations and form thealphabet in which consecutive intelligent statement or phrase is included. Namely

set of symbols in Cyrillics forms the systemati/ed combination of literal names

which form the metalinguistic formula or sacral a/buka and esoteric system ofalphabet.

Names of letters in the Slavic alphabet are not casual and possess intelligent values

which form sacral statement or phrase.Constantine :Cyril; the Philosopher and Methodius from Salonika :Thesaloniki in

contemporary Greece; have created Slavic alphabet for translation of biblical te!tsinto languages of Slavs# and for this purpose it was necessary to fi! phonetic

system of Slavonic languages by means of alphabetic signs which are organi/edaccording to divine laws. "s it was necessary that sacral structures of words in the

ible has not been broken as a result of translation.

Therefore Cyril and Methodius have created the alphabet which is unification of alllanguages of Slavs by means of uniform phonetic construction. "nd also Cyril andMethodius have coordinated Slavic letters with phonetic system of the Greek

alphabet by means of which translation of the ible from "ramaic into language of ancient Greece earlier has been e!ecuted. "nd also Cyril and Methodius have

included in Slavic alphabetic system the sacral formula or otherwise speaking thesacred statement which e!pressed mystical values of divine laws.

elow the table shows graphic symbols or characters and names of letters of theSlavic alphabet# and also phonetic parameters and philosophical categories which

form sacral a/buka or otherwise to tell alphabetical metalinguistic formula.

only alphabetic signs but also numerical symbols. Top hori/ontal row of == lettersin the table designated duodecimal digital units# and bottom row designated do/ens

which differ from units by /eros# though /ero as graphical sign in ancientnumerical systems was absent as numbers had writing by letters.

ow we now nothing about ancient 8hoenician scale of mathematical notation. But there are bases to assume that in the ancient world there were systems of

calculations in which there were 22 numbers as 8hoenician writing has -- letters. amely as actual in contemporary mathematics and numerology we have decimal

numerical system 0nine ciphers and zero1 which is indirectly connected with!uantity of fingers on human hands, and in essence corresponds with !uantity of

cells in the magic s!uare which has three verticals and horizontals, namely "N"MD. But however there are facts which specify e#istence of duodecimal 0eleven ciphers

and zero1 mathematical scale."ll letters of Phoenician writing are consonants# but "+0T3 and ",N can

designate vowel sounds of speech.Greeks adopted Phoenician writing# but have added letters for vowel phonemes

which are necessary for Greek language. "nd also Greeks have compared

alphabetic symbols with decimal numerical notation# that is shown in the followingtable."lso the table shows Slavic letters which have been compared by Cyril and

Methodius to the Greek alphabetic symbols.

"pparently in the table# the classical alphabet of "ncient Greece includes (B

letters# that differs from contemporary Greek alphabetic system which has (&graphical symbols. Characters *,G"MM"# FPP"# S"MP, in the contemporary

Namely (B letters make three groups which correspond to units from = to D# tensfrom =E to DE and hundreds from =EE to DEE.

+etters of Slavic alphabet in the table are compared with Greek alphabetic symbolsand have similar numerical values which too form mathematical scale of decimalnotation.

Now alphabetic signs do not use for mathematical calculations# but numericalvalues of letters have sense in numerology. "s letters in words or names of people

from the view point of numerology are not only alphabetic symbols but therecorrespond to numbers# that allows to consider not only semantic meanings of

2or correct numerological calculations it is necessary to use regular or rectilinear

alphabetic numerical matri!es according to which letters correspond with numbers.ne of regular and authentic is the numerical matri! of classical or ancient Greekalphabet# in which letters correspond to numbers of decimal scale of notation. "s

(B letters coincide with (B cells which are formed by D verticals and ' hori/ontalsof numerical matri!. Namely (B alphabetic symbols correspond with nine

numerological numbers on verticals# and also with three hori/ontals whichcorrespond to units# tens and hundreds.

ther alphabets too re7uire regular numerical matri!es which allow to correlateletters with numbers in numerology correctly.

,f 7uantity of letters in any alphabet mismatches D verticals and ' hori/ontals ofdecimal numerical matri! then it is possible to use other systems of mathematical

alphabetic system with symbols of astrological planets which in essence areidentical to seven numbers of octal scale of notation# and conse7uently we can

consider relations of ?abalistic or Cabbalistic alphabet with planets as doubtful. Namely in the occult doctrine of Cabbala or ?abala it is possible to find

possess regular and correct ratio with octal numbers# and in essence cannot be placed in (= cell of the shown numerical matri!# and conse7uently cannot be

alphabetic symbols of ancient "ramaic language and Phoenician writing whichcorrespond to duodecimal scale of notation# and conse7uently ratios with decimalor octal numbers are doubtful from the view point of numerology.

There is information that in an anti7uity there was ancient 3ebrew alphabet having(B graphical signs which can be correlated with numerical matri! of the Greek

alphabetic system# and as a result 8ewish letters can be coordinated with ninedecimal numbers of classical numerology. ut (( graphical characters of

contemporary 8ewish alphabet# and also alphabetic symbols of Cabbala arenecessary for correlation with numbers of duodecimal mathematical notation.

"nd also '' letters of contemporary )ussian alphabet are necessary for correlatingto numbers of duodecimal scale of mathematical notation# because ratio with

decimal numerical signs are doubtful from the view point of numerology. To operate with duodecimal scale it is necessary to add two additional ciphers or

according to which construction of the world space and validity is organi/ed. "saccording to == numbers of duodecimal scale it is possible to see numerical laws

and esoteric mystical rules which can not be taken into consideration in theclassical decimal mathematics and numerology.

ow in the +S9 and in the &reat Britain there is a duodecimal society. amely/he (ozenal Society of 9merica or &reat Britain which use 7oman symbol for

)od -ork9 *ecoding the Glagolitic Script

Glagoljica Uglata – Istria, Croatia

The Glagolitic script is the first known Slavic system of writing. It predates the

Cyrillic alphabet by a couple hundred years, and was originally thought to have

been developed by Methodius, the brother of St Cyril, creator of Cyrillic.

However, new studies of the Carpathian Rovas (Slavo-Sarmatian runes),

which date from the seventh century, exhibit phonetic and ligature patterns

similar to Glagoltic. Glagolitic itself doesn’t appear on the scene until 862

when it was developed by Methodius’ monks at the behest of Prince Ratislav

in Great Moravia. This was presumably done to aid the Christian conversion of

his subjects but was in fact a more pragmatic political maneuver to provide

catholic liturgy in the native tongue as a means of weakening the influence of

Frankish priests in the area. Glagolitic was thought to have, at first, been

developed to serve the Slavic speakers of Bulgaria and Macedonia since Cyril

and Methodius were both from Thessaloniki. It took on greater significance in

Bohemia however. Such a controversy it became that it resulted in the

imprisonment of latter brother’s disciples. Those that remained free fled south

to Bulgaria in the late 9th century. Here King Boris I faced a similar political

situation. He welcomed the learned students of Cyril and Methodius and

encouraged them to write missiles in the native Slavic language as a means of

Page 42: Esoteric Meanings of Slavic Alphabet and Numerology

checking the influence of Byzantine power. Over the next two hundred years

Glagolitic once again spread northward. It made it’s way to the court scribes of

Vladimir I and the newly established monasteries of Kievan-Rus in 990. In

1248, Pope Innocent IV granted the Croatian the clergy of

southern Dalmatia the unique privilege of using the script to write Roman

Rite liturgy. Here an angular version of Glagolitic called “Uglata” was

developed. This is the script I will be referencing here in this analysis.

As many of you know, I am a Slavic heathen and witch. That said, my

heathenry and my craft is informed primarily by the west Balkan experience.

Naturally, the unique preservation of the Glagolitic script in this region has

always fascinated me. I felt compelled to explore this in greater depth. Like the

the hebrew “aleph-beth” or germanic runes, Glagolitic is a system full ofesoteric symbolism and magical potential. Each letter is both a word and a

number. The task of decoding the letters seemed dauntingly confusing

however. First, there are several variations of the script (Bulgarian,

Macedonian, Croatian, Ukrainian, ect), some with up to forty characters or

more. Nevertheless, I had this topic on my to-do list for well over a year but

had no clue how to approach it. At some point I recall sitting down and praying

for guidance. I opened up my secret book where I had hand drawn the letters

along with their phonetics, meanings and correspondences. I noticed theRider-Waite Tarot deck tucked away in the corner. There I caught a moment of

inspiration. I thumbed through each letter in the book and recalled the

corresponding Tarot card, beginning of course with the major arcana. Slowly a

pattern began to emerge. Spellbound I continued to pour over the symbols,

cross-referencing, analyzing and reanalyzing. Something visceral was

suddenly emerging – like I had awoke to find myself having fallen asleep atop

an endless pile of gold only to notice the piercing eye of a massive dragon

starring at me as I pan back my field of vision. Could Glagolitic contain thesecrets of a long forgotten, Slavonic christian mystery tradition?

Baška Tablet, Church of St. Lucy in Jurandvor, Croatia

Like the Bogomils, dual-believers, old believers, witches and other heretics

before them, many of our Slavic ancestors went to great lengths to preservethe indigenous European religious gnosis by shrouding it in the imagery and

discourse of the new Christian doctrine. Could this Slavic system of writing

reveal something timeless about our native faith that we might not otherwise

know? I caught shivers contemplating the possibilities. Then, like most fleeting

moments of incredible revelation, I became overwhelmed by the enormity of

the task set before me by the gods. I didn’t muster the strength to revisit the

subject for another three months. Plus I wasn’t sure it would be worthwhile to

pursue something that seemed so far out. That said, it’s not like we don’t knowthe names of most of the letters and a thorough study of the ligatures slowly

reveals its aesthetic concepts, which in turn reveal patterns. This aside, having

a template, or “rosetta stone”, with which to cross-reference my cursory

analysis would be helpful, and that is where the Major Arcana of the Tarot

comes in. The Tarot is thought to have been brought to Europe by Mamluk

Egyptians in the 14th century but was no doubt disseminated by the nomadic

Romani people who carried it from the east to the west in their caravans. The

largest Romani communities are in the Carpathian basin in countries likeRomania and Slovakia. Thus Slavic folk magicians would have been well

aware of the system at the beginning of the early modern period.

Since the Glagolitic runes are much older (presumably) than the tarot, I will not

suggest the former’s development was pattered in any way by the latter, and

knowing this, perhaps the “rosetta stone” metaphor used in the previous

paragraph is an exaggeration. A better metaphor would be a mirror. The the

Major Arcana is visual template that reflects the visceral nature that lies behindour intrinsic reality. The cards tell the tale of the cyclical journey of the

individual, as he or she travels from blithe ignorance towards the vistas of self

knowledge and cosmic wisdom. The Tarot appeals to our sense because it’s

imagery is archetypal and recognizable by all (note: I am not suggesting here

that the Gods/spirits are archetypes!) Over the course of my analysis of

Glagolitic, where relevant, I make note of similarities between the letter and its

corresponding card in numerical order. These correspondances are purely

coincidental (or synchronistic, if you prefer that word). Where there are no

Page 44: Esoteric Meanings of Slavic Alphabet and Numerology

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/esoteric-meanings-of-slavic-alphabet-and-numerology 44/55

apparent similarities with the Tarot, I point that out too. I did not attempt to

locate a card correspondence for each and every letter, as it is not my

intention to graft the Tarot onto Glagolitic. My area of focus was determine

whether or not Glagolitic possessed the element of magical intent. If so, it

surely has a narrative of its own, perhaps one colored in a unique way by the

people who first conceived of it. Please refer to the Rider-Waite deck as that is

the one with which I make reference to.

Glagojlica Uglata

Az | A (Eng.I) Tarot:The Fool

The first letter Az is an ancient Slavic word for “I”. Like the Fool, it mightrepresent the ego-self that naively dances toward the cliff, whereby he or she

embarks upon a hero’s journey. Like Shiva of the ancient Indo-European

religion, the trident shape of this letter could signify the tree worlds inside each

of us. This may also represent the god Rod united to Rozhanitsa, the triplegoddess of fate who dwells below. Rod was first among the gods. He churned

the cosmos into being (notice the butter churn-like shape?).

Buka | B (Eng.sound, noise) Tarot:The Magician

The magician masters the arcane art by conjuring various spirits usingincantations, charms and words of power.Buka means “sound”. There are four

arms here, and the Magician possesses power over the four elements. To me

this is symbolic of the first magician, the divine blacksmith Svarog. He created

the cosmos and separated the worlds of gods and men by building the 12

pillars. He is the demiurge who created all the other gods through the loud

clash of his hammer upon the great stone.

Vedi | V (Eng. view; see) Tarot –The High Priestess

Priestesses like the sibyls and völvas were the great seers of old whose

prophetic visions are the stuff of legend.Vedi means “to see”, but not merely inthe optical sense, rather in the ability to understand things that are hidden to

most others. This letter is about esotericism. Interestingly enough, in northern

Croatia a class of large, hairy forest spirit are called vedi. These are no

different than theleshy known elsewhere in the East. The letter’s shape couldsignify two eyes. It also bears resemblance to the columns of Jachin and Boaz

seen in the High Priestess card.

Glagoljo | G (Eng.verb; words; ripples) Tarot –The Empress

The Empress is seated amid a lush garden full of vegetative life representing

creation and abundance.Glagolje are action words, specifically verbs. Theword is derived from the much older Slavic word for “ripples”,which is amazing

considering the Empress is depicted in front of a stream of water rippling at

her feet. This could represent the ‘effect’ half of the law of cause and effect.

Notice the flower shape of the letter? This brings to mind Jarila (Lada) who is

the goddess of the summer harvest.

Dobro | D (Eng.right; good) Tarot –The Emperor

The Emperor is about leadership, right action and logic. It’s interesting then

that the Slavic word for “right” stands across from this card. This letter kind of

looks like an Emperor’s throne. It speaks to me as belonging to Perun (notice

the ax-head shape?). Perhaps it belongs to the original Deus Pater of proto-

Slavic religion.

Jest | E (Eng.exists; is) Tarot –The Heirophant

Questions of an existential nature are the purview of priests and religious

leaders like the person depicted in the Heirophant card in the Tarot deck. To

denote that a thing exists the word jest is used. It is also the emblem for theEuro, the currency of exchange in the European Union.

Živite | Zh (Eng. to live) Tarot –The Lovers

Živite means “to live”, and as such, the Lovers here seems appropriate. Life isabout the relationships and interactions between various lifeforms, and

certainly it takes two to recreate life. This brings to mind the divine twins of the

northern European fertility cults. Here we think of Freyr and Freya, LJelj and

Ljelja, ect. Notice the dualism in the letter’s shape. This letter might also

associate with the goddess Živa.

Dzelo | Dz (Eng.work; action) Tarot –The Chariot

The Chariot card is about momentum and will power. The potential

correspondences with the Major Arcana become quite striking

now.Dzelo means “work” or “action” and the letter’s trifold character with the

top ligature reaching forward mirrors the symbolism of the charioteercommanding the two sphinxes. This could represent the solar chariot

of Dažbog, which seems coherent given the letter’s phonetics.

Zemlja | Z (Eng.earth) Tarot –Strength

Zemlja is the Slavic word for “earth”. She is also the oldest known SlavicGoddess. In the imagery of the Strength card a maiden gently opens a lion’s

Page 47: Esoteric Meanings of Slavic Alphabet and Numerology

8/18/2019 Esoteric Meanings of Slavic Alphabet and Numerology

mouth. Here we find a fine motif for the regenerative power of the earth that

simultaneously gives and takes life away. Notice too that the infinity symbol,

present in the Tarot card, is reflected diagonally in this Glagolitic letter. The

curved ligature at the bottom indicates that an infernal power resides below

the terrestrial power.

Iže | I (Eng.behind; beyond) Tarot –The Hermit

The Hermit appears as an old, bearded sage who shines a light upon a dark

path.Iže is an article word in most Slavic tongues meaning “behind” or

“beyond”. Like the Hermit himself, this may represent a central figure, wellbalanced enough to see the wisdom of both sides of an issue, hence the

shape. The letter has a very mercurial feel to it, reminding me very much of

the horned god Veles.

I | Y (Eng.and; or) Tarot –The Wheel

This word means “and” in all Slavic languages, which would make sense when

juxtaposed against the Wheel in the Tarot deck and its association with time.

Hense the hourglass shape. This might be a symbol for our life in Jav. Every

action has its corresponding consequence. This also brings to mind the South

Slavic Fates called Suđenica, or the female spirits elsewhere called Doyla and

Nedoyla, an animist conception for the binary nature of fortune.

Đervo | J (Eng.wood; timber) Tarot – Justice

Wood provides curious imagery for the twelfth letter in the Azbuka. Lady

Justice holds a sword and scales, and the ligatures reflect that if you look

closely. Wood is a symbol of civilization and was the principle building material

in heathen culture. Wherever urbanization occurred, laws followed to maintain

the social order. Here I recall the goddess Dzevana, the wild, virgin huntress ofthe forest from which wood is procured. I am also reminded of the Wendish

Page 48: Esoteric Meanings of Slavic Alphabet and Numerology

goddess Zaria, who like Lady Justice, wielded a sword, and to whom warriors

are said to have made sacrifices at dawn. Together they symbolize the liminal

boundary between night and day, as well as the metaphorical “hedge”

separating urban “civil” and rustic “wild” societies. Both goddess were

associated with the planet Venus and together they may well represent

the Zoryas as understood in Russia; personifications of the morning and

evening star.

Kako | K (Eng.how) Tarot –The Hanged Man

Kako means “how” in all Slavic languages. This letter is perhaps the mostpeculiar of all. It almost resembles a door hinge or a lever of some kind.

Although there are no obvious symbolic or visual connections to the Hanged

Man (aside from say, a crude depiction of a broken neck), the “hows” of things

are those ordeals and sacrifices that have shaped our overall view of the

world.

Ljudije | L (Eng. people) Tarot –Death

This letter is named after the Slavic word for “people”. Of all the creatures on

earth, we humans have gained conscious awareness of self and are thereby

cognizant of our imminent death. The implications of this knowledge is the

source of most human suffering. That said, it is also the source of humaningenuity, hence the binary shape of the letter. It is fitting then that the people

in question here, the Slavs (slava meaning “glory”) viewed death as a gloriousact of sacrifice, wherein one could continue to support the living from the other

wold.

Mislite | M (Eng.to think) Tarot –Temperance

Page 49: Esoteric Meanings of Slavic Alphabet and Numerology

8/18/2019 Esoteric Meanings of Slavic Alphabet and Numerology

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/esoteric-meanings-of-slavic-alphabet-and-numerology 49/55

In order to make sense of the mysteries of life and death it is necessary to

think using our capacity for reason and intuition alike. Mislite reflects the

balanced flow and integration that we see in the image of the Temperance

card. The M shape even gives the appearance of the folded angel wings upon

a central figure. The letter has a very flowing, feminine appearance bringing to

mind the grain goddess Mokoš. She taught the art of weaving linen and flax to

Slavic women. Her name is etymologically related tomokhri, an old Slavicword for “wet”. The other half ofMislite could then represent the goddessMorena, who’s bitter winters froze the waters and made life difficult for people,

but who’s role was necessary for the renewal of grain crop in spring.

Naš | N (Eng.ours) Tarot –The Devil

This is the Slavic word for “our”. Here it stands opposite the Devil of the Tarot. Its interesting to note thatDzelo (work) andĐervo (wood) both contain this

ligature. These correspond to the Chariot and Justice cards, and more

importantly, connect to the relationship between Dažbog and his daughters, the Zoryas. This letter deals with karmic destiny. The Devil might then

represents the terrestrial fire of the Serbian folk deity Dabog, whom the West

Slavs worshiped under the name Svarozich (little Svarog). This is about the

attachment and possessiveness that influence or alter destiny and karma

(Rod). Nearly everything we claim as “ours” is in fact something impermanent.

The heathen expression “We are our deeds” comes to mind as the ideal

answer to this quandary.

On | O (Eng.his; hers) Tarot –The Tower

On(a) means “his” or “hers”. Here we find an expression of the individual selfas something more than mere matter. The Tower comes next here which might

seem like a peculiar placement. It represents sudden change and calamity, yet

the life we live as individuals is directly shaped by such moments.

Page 50: Esoteric Meanings of Slavic Alphabet and Numerology

8/18/2019 Esoteric Meanings of Slavic Alphabet and Numerology

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/esoteric-meanings-of-slavic-alphabet-and-numerology 50/55

WhereasNaš (ours) says “we are our deeds”,Onseems to add the caveat “weare our wounds”. Who are you really? This might correspond to Stribog, the

destructive side of Perun, whose lightening bolts could take life at a moment’s

notice, perhaps causing catastrophic fires.

Pokoj | P (Eng. peace; room; space) Tarot –The Star

LikeMislite, this ligature resembles (somewhat) its Latin phonetic equivalent.

Its meaning, the South Slavic word for “peace”, fits well with the hopeful

imagery of the Star card. After the doom and gloom of the previous three

cards there is at last a bit of optimism. Peace is the reward for perseverance. This letter may also connect to the Zorje, but more specifically to Zvjezda

Danica, the morning star. Interestingly enough, the word pokoj in othercontexts means “room” or “space” which fits well in the context of stars

residing in the empty expanse of the night sky.

Reći | R (Eng. say; tell) Tarot –The Moon

Reći means “to say” or “make words”. It is unclear to me how this mightconnect to the Moon in the Tarot deck. That said, words are perhaps the first

ways humans learned to communicate through abstraction. The moon is a

great symbol for abstraction. Mesyats is a rather obscure Slavic god

associated with the moon of whom we know little about. I see this letter more

as pregnant woman. The phonetics might suggest a connection to the

Rozhanitsa who were called to aid in childbirth and were said to havepronounced the fates of newborns. As the womb gives birth to life, so does the

mouth give birth to words and ideas. The moon is symbolic of how our words

can be used to both build and destroy.

Slovo | S (Eng.letter; sign; script) Tarot –The Sun

Page 51: Esoteric Meanings of Slavic Alphabet and Numerology

8/18/2019 Esoteric Meanings of Slavic Alphabet and Numerology

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/esoteric-meanings-of-slavic-alphabet-and-numerology 51/55

Slovo means “letter” or “sign”. This is the clear visual abstraction thatcorresponds to the previous audible one. The sun then seems appropriate

here and the top ligature has a very solar appearance. Although Dažbog is

considered the chief solar god, the sun-fire itself was calledSunce. She was a

female deity in Baltic religion, though it seems Dažbog supplanted her in this

role among Slavs during the migration period. What sign or symbol is more

iconic than the sun?

Trvdo | T (Eng.hard; solid) Tarot – Judgement

The Slavic word for “solid” stands across from the Judgment card as we nearthe end of the Major Arcana. The twin pillars we saw inVedi (to see/

understand), Zivite(to live) andLjudje (people) reappear here inTrvdo.Perhaps this speaks to the idea of human destiny. Our understanding and

lived experiences shape us in a unique way unlike any other species on the

planet. We have the unique ability to understand, create and communicate

through the use of abstraction. The things we create, whether ideological,

technological or otherwise have reshaped the natural word in unparalleled

ways. This letter seems to represent the finished product of that humancreativity, whatever that may be.

Uk | U (Eng. end, abolish) Tarot –The World

This letter is of uncertain etymologic origin but the most popular interpretation

is that is derived from the South Slavic root worduk, from Serbo-Croatianukinuti, meaning “to abolish”. This fits well with the World, the last

card of the Major Arcana, whose symbolism implies completion of a cycle. The

shape of the letter is actually a combination of the Glagolitic

lettersOn (his/hers) andI (and), which we linked to the Tower and the Wheelrespectively. As the Tarot would suggest, this letter indicates that an individual

has reached the completion of a cycle. The tower then is our ego-self, orUm,meaning “mind” (note the phonetic symmetry!). Therefore this letter might

Page 52: Esoteric Meanings of Slavic Alphabet and Numerology

8/18/2019 Esoteric Meanings of Slavic Alphabet and Numerology

represent our Um as it is attached to the cycle of time known as Jav. This isthe element that makes us unique as individuals.

Frt | F (Eng. ?)

This letter’s translation is uncertain, but what is certain is its identity. It is

identical to the Cyrillic letter F and the Greek letter Phi and thus was likely

borrowed from these alphabets at a later date. This may be due in part to the

fact the original Slavic language had very little use for this letter’s phonetics

and many of the F-words (no pun!) that appear in Slavic languages today arein fact loan words from other languages. (My comparative analysis of

Glagolitic with the Tarot ends here)

Hjer | H (Eng.caprice)

This letter is of uncertain translation as well, but may be connected to theSerbo-Croatian root wordhir, meaning “caprice” or “whimsy”. If this is so, it

might imply spontaneous action, perhaps even spiritual revelation of some

kind. Notice that this letter is nearly identical to the letter Glagolju which we

connected to the Empress and the summer fertility Goddess Jarila (Lada).

Logically I’m inclined to identify this letter with Jarilo, the summer aspect of the

fertility god Svantevid. The fact that spiritual revelation might be connected to

this letter makes even more sense given what we know about the cult of Saint

Vitus in the middle ages, who’s rites were accompanied by music and ecstaticdance.

Ot | Ø (Eng.from)

This letter means “from” in most Slavic languages and the circular shape is no

different from its Cyrillic, Latin and Greek counterparts, save from its stylized

Page 53: Esoteric Meanings of Slavic Alphabet and Numerology

8/18/2019 Esoteric Meanings of Slavic Alphabet and Numerology

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/esoteric-meanings-of-slavic-alphabet-and-numerology 53/55

presentation here. The interpretation is pretty straight forward then; this is

about origin. This might also connect to the god Rod, or perhaps the archaic

ideas of a cosmic egg so well preserved in Slavic Easter traditions, specifically

the ritual making of pzanki, which is also the word for “loop” in the Serbo-

Croatian language.

Šta | Scha (Eng.what)

This is the word for “what” in most modern Slavic languages. The letter bears

resemblance to its Cyrillic equivalent. Esoterically, the question of “what?”

might suggest we are getting closer to identifying the source of the great

Slavonic mystery. The letter is a combination of Az (I),Buka (sound),andSlovo (word), which we connected to Rod and the Fool, Svarog and the

Magician, and Dažbog and the Sun respectively. Therefore this letter might

represents the three generations of the gods in one unit, a Slavic Trimirti

perhaps, like Shiva, Brahma, and Vishnu. Notice though that they are still

tethered to a lower ligature identical to the lower half ofI (and), the Wheel, which is to say time.Slovo (signs), the Sun, is also tethered to this sameligature, the sun being, in essence, the first clock.

Ci | Ts (Eng. ??)

Ci is of uncertain translation but some have connected it to the wordtsar which is a Slavic appellation of the Latincaesar, meaning “ruler”. Sincethe Croats have a heavy Alanic influence their native equivalentkralj is

etymologically linked to the Persian language, so I am unsure about this

translation. Looking at the shape we find the curved, tear-drop ligature present

on many of the Glagolitic letters such

asGlaglju (sound), Zemlja (earth),Dzelo (many),Đerv (wood),Naš (our),On (

his/her),Reći (speak) andUk (end). Beyond these observations, I can find no

obvious esoteric interpretation.

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/esoteric-meanings-of-slavic-alphabet-and-numerology 54/55

Črv | Ch (Eng.worm)

This letter means “worm” in most Slavic languages. It appears similar toŠta ina lot of ways with the middle ligature split in two, fanning to either side like the

forked tongue of a snake creating an enclosure within the trident. The base

resembles Ot and thus the snake/ouroboros symbolism is obvious. I connect

this letter with zmaje, the dragons of Slavic folklore. These are the monsterswho threaten the order imposed by the gods of the Slavic Trimirti.

Ša | Sha (Eng.with; handful)

IfŠta represents the Slavic Trimirti tethered to time,Ša shows the three godsstanding alone in their own element, free of time. For me this represents the

three gods of the three worlds in one; Rod, Svarog, and Dažbog gloriously

unified in one single cosmos.

Jer | Yeh (Eng.because)

Jer is the word for “because” in Serbo-Croatian. It is pronounced “YEH” and is

used to spell words like “yesterday”. This is essentially the letterI that we

connected to the Wheel of the Tarot deck, with an added ligature on the left-hand side. Perhaps this letter speaks to the “why?” question of the Slavonic

mysteries. To me this is the symbol forNav.

Jerj might connect to the Serbo-Croatian word for “by”. It is pronounced “YUH”and is used to spell words like “lasagna”. Again, this is the letterI with a

ligature on the left-hand side except it forms a box. This letter might speak to

the “who?” question of the Slavonic mysteries. This, to me, is a symbol

forPrav.

Jat | Yah (Eng.flock)

Jat means “flock” in many Slavic languages. It is pronounced “YAH” and usedto spell words like “yacht”. I have seen other renditions of this letter that look a

lot like Đerv (wood/tree). This brings to mind the Vila and Vensa spirits of theforest that were welcomed with cakes and milk upon the arrival of migratory

birds in spring. This letter could also represent the Alknost or Firebird of Slavic

folklore. The truncated pyramidal shape seems to be about renewal and new

projects.

Jus | Yoo (Eng. ??)

Jus is of uncertain meaning. It is pronounced “YOO” and is used to spell

words like “milieu”. It’s shape resembles an inverseŠa enclosed at an angle.

IfŠa symbolizes the unadulterated emanation of the Slavic Trimirti, might thisrepresent the harnessing, or drawing down of said holy powers? Just a

thought…
