learn! Canada is recognized throughout

the world as one of the safest, most

welcoming and beautiful countries. The very

best part of Canada is the people – we are

friendly, helpful, easy going and welcoming.

Come to Canada and let the Archer

Education Group show you how to make

your education experience unforgettable.

 Vancouver

 Hamilton

 TorontoVancouver, in the western

province of British Columbia, is a

thriving city located between

mountains and the ocean – an

ideal spot for summer and winter

sports activities. In fact, it will be

hosting the 2010 Winter Olympics. Vancouver enjoys a moderate climate

year round which allows for lush, green trees and bright, flowering gardens

– a truly beautiful city. In addition, the University of British Columbia and

Simon Fraser University offer students an excellent opportunity for

post-secondary study in a first-class university in a first-class city.

Another beautiful city in the

province of Ontario is Hamilton.

While quite close to Toronto

(about 1 hour away by car)

Hamilton operates at a much

slower pace. Hamilton has many

attractions: the beautiful Botanical Gardens, as well as cultural events and

excellent winter and summer sport activities. It boasts the world famous

McMaster University, well-known for its excellent medical school and

innovative science programs. Brock University, situated in nearby St.

Catharines, is also well recognized as a prestigious post-secondary

institution offering a wide variety of multi-disciplinary programs.

Toronto is without question one

of the most exciting and culturally

diverse cities in the world. Almost

every nationality and culture is

represented, respected and

welcomed in Toronto. As well as

celebrations of multicultural events, galleries, theatre and fine restaurants,

Toronto offers superb educational opportunities through the world

renowned University of Toronto, York and Ryerson Universities, the

Ontario College of Art and Design plus numerous colleges both private

and public, offering a wide variety of courses.

AjaxAjax is a small community just

east of the City of Toronto. It is a

clean and safe community with a

population that is just under

100,000 residents. Ajax has a

good public transit system for

travel within the community and to Toronto. A typical trip to downtown

Toronto by public transit takes about 20~25 minutes. This provides the

students with the best of both worlds. They can study and live in a safe

and quiet family-oriented community. At the same time they are very close

to the Toronto for entertainment and week-end stress release.

Children and Teen’s Summer English CampsThroughout the year, Archer College arranges camps for children and young teens. July and August specifically see many young students traveling to

Canada for our English and Canadian Culture camps. Students learn in appropriate levels from beginner to advanced and with qualified public school

teachers. Classes are kept small and arranged to best integrate the diversity of students who attend. Canadian students volunteer to attend the program

and join in the daily activities. With homestay accommodations students truly learn and interact with Canadian culture. There are approximately 15 hours

of structured classes and 20 hours of fun activities per week. Homestay families often arrange weekend and evening activities for students.

Special Interest ProgramsArcher College specializes in developing group programs and can

even arrange English and special interest programs for small groups

of friends or family. Programs allow students to set their own pace of

study, to travel, and pursue interests that are important to them while

in Canada.

SAMPLE PROGRAM: 3-week young teen program

The Homestay Experience - Your Canadian Family!Stay with a carefully selected Archer homestay family to experience Canadian

culture and improve your English while living with Canadians. Your Canadian

homestay family would like to welcome you to their home. Exchange cultural

ideas, talk about different experiences, and practice your English at home; these

are some of the advantages of doing homestay. You’ll also join family activities

- it’s a great way to do what Canadians enjoy doing! Archer families are carefully

selected and are friendly, safe and willing to help you with your goals in Canada.

You will have a private room in your home and three meals per day. Your home

will be quite close to the school and your host family will explain how to get

around the city easily. The homestay counsellor is here to talk to you about your

time with your family and will always be available to discuss any questions that

you might have. Families and students often become life-long friends. This

homestay experience is perfect for anyone wanting to get a unique perspective

of Canada. We will make sure that you have a great time in Canada!

Harumi's testimonial“Till I started to live with a Canadian family, I hadn't had

chances to talk with non-Japanese people about various

topics. So actually I didn't know the culture of Canada. But

now my family talks with me about their style of life so I can

learn not only English but also their culture and way of living.

If I can speak English more fluently and exchange my

opinion in detail, there are unlimited possibilities for us to

understand each other deeply. I really appreciate their

kindness which makes me happy and teaches me many

important things. Without them, I would have found just

a few things about Canada.”

Activities - Experience Canada! It’s exciting to be able to see and experience life in Canada. Archer College makes this possible by arranging activities, sports, city tours and weekend

trips for you to join. It’s a great way to meet new friends and spend time with your teachers.

Field Trips, After-School Activities, and Weekend ToursYour teachers will arrange local field trips to help your English, experience Canadian culture and meet Canadians. These trips focus on bringing your

classroom learning into the local community. Homework or other activities are often built into these trips.

Throughout the week, teachers organize activities and encourage students to join in. Participation is a great way to practice your English and make

new friends. Each school will arrange a monthly activities calendar full of a variety of activities to include sports activities, crafts, sightseeing, games,

short travel, local community events, and the list goes on. These activities are quite often free. Students can even participate in the planning of the

calendar by requesting specific activities. On the last Friday afternoon of each school term, Archer will arrange a scheduled school activity for all staff

and students. Quite often these will be based on specific themes. For example, October may be a Halloween activity.

Weekend tours are many and depending on what school you attend could be two or three-day trips to Canada most famous urban or natural settings. Victoria,

Niagara Falls, Montreal, Banff, Ottawa, Calgary, or the 2010 Winter Olympic Host city of Whistler are a few of the more well-known and frequented places.

Community Volunteer PositionsArcher can assist you in finding volunteer agencies that provide unpaid work in Canadian agencies and associations. This may include organizing

sporting events, helping elderly people, or working at cultural events. Becoming involved in community activities is a wonderful way to integrate into

Canadian society and use your English skills in a natural environment. It’s a great way to meet people and experience Canada!

Ali (Saudi Arabia) – “The business classes were excellent. The presentations, topics and vocabulary have been useful in my career. It was very practical and the teacher did a great job of using currentbusiness examples.”

11

Student CounselingOur multilingual staff works to ensure that each student who attends Archer College has a positive experience. Students are encouraged to speak

to a teacher or staff member with any concerns they may have during their stay in Canada. We are always available to listen, explain and provide

assistance for our students.
