Literacy = Opportunity Project
•Strong need for tutors for adult ESL students
Partnered with Literacy Volunteers of Morris County for publicity
Help adult English language learners improve their conversational and
computer skills to enhance their job prospects
•RT Library expertise in computer class instruction
Partnered with Dover Library for use of computers and facility
•Partnered with Rockaway Twp community for volunteer teachers
•Partnered with Dover Library staff member with ESL class experience

Computer Class Overview
Taught two 10 week courses: 90 minutes
per hands-on class session
Topics: Computer basics, email,
keyboarding, internet, MS Word, keyboarding, internet, MS Word,
Excel,Powerpoint and photo editing
Handouts and instruction in English
1 Volunteer for every 3-4 students

Mr. Manuel Manzanares (in the white baseball cap) was the project’s first success story.
Manuel attended the computer classes and English conversation meetings in the fall.
He was out of work, but was able to get a job

He was out of work, but was able to get a job at a local warehouse after 3 months in our course, because of his new computer skills.
