Now, for my other half. My partner in crime. Kurt Barnes. Or Kurt at Eat Sleep DSM. Him and I have been best friends since the start of Eat Sleep DSM. He came across my forum, registered, and started posting. Come to find out, he lived in my area. He actually picked me up and let me drive his 1G TSi to buy my first 2G.

He was practically a newbie when we met. He was practically a newbie when we met. His car was misfiring badly when he picked me up. After I bought my 2G, I popped his hood and found a spark plug wire in horrible shape. Swapped in a spare NGK and he was running on all four again. Seems silly looking back on it since he's taking apart engines and doing things now he had never known how to do back in the now he had never known how to do back in the day.

Growing up, I was all about the Muscle Car thing. I grew up around Dirt Racing. I started racing myself at age 13. I’ve raced several differ-ent classes since then. Mini Stocks, Factory Stocks, IMCA Modifieds, and now Dirt Late Models. We use Chevy engines. Carbureted obviously. The Late Model has a built Chevy 400 that produced just over 600HP on alcohol. All that produced just over 600HP on alcohol. All throughout high school, I swore I would never own anything other than a V8. Couldn’t stand those 4 bangers. I guess there was an exception huh?

I am 24 years old. Born on June 26th, 1990. Kind of upset at the fact that I am about to hit the quarter of a century mark. They say turn-ing 25 hits you harder than when you hit 30. When I was 22, my mom passed away at age 41. Maybe that’s why I am so nervous about the age number. You never know when your clock is going to stop ticking. She had her CDL as she going to stop ticking. She had her CDL as she drove school busses. Once she passed, I decid-ed to go get my CDL. It was probably the best decision I have ever made. I went from working part time under the table to making $50k+/year.

I have a 5 year old daughter. She is the most amazing, smart, beautiful little girl you will ever meet. I am very lucky to have her. I named her Daytona Star-Morgan Hunsinger. Notice the initials? Her mother didn’t ;)

She will be in Kindergarten next year. She has been attending both Pre-School and Head Start for a couple of years now. She can already read and write. The two schools are doing a fantastic job with her and she absolutely loves school. She is very involved with the DSM’s. She loves helping daddy turn wrenches and is already addicted to boost. Which is good consid-already addicted to boost. Which is good consid-ering I named her after DSM’s.

Kurt currently has a 1993 Eagle Talon TSi AWD. Blue like my 2G. It’s pretty neat that between the two of us, we have a blue 1G and 2G. Right now he is building a 6 bolt for it. He is putting a lot of time into it and has big plans. This is his third DSM. In the next few months, he will be buying his first 1Ga. The pop-ups are finally start-ing to grow on him. ing to grow on him.

Kurt deserves a lot or credit for this maga-zine. The idea actually came out of his mouth. The discussion was more of a fantasy than anything. But the more we talked about it, the more we felt like we had to do it. We did some research and started planning things. And here we are.

Our Eat Sleep DSM Facebook group has been very successful. We are approaching the 8k members mark and are the largest DSM group on Facebook. As frivolous as that may sound, it was a big accomplishment for us. Kurt and I decided to throw the magazine idea on the Facebook group to get some feedback.

We got a lot of support right from the start upon We got a lot of support right from the start upon presenting it to the public. The prodigious amount of excitement from our members was what we needed to get motivated. With as time consuming as this magazine has proven to be, we quickly realized this whole thing runs off of motivation. You DSMer’s cheering us on are the heart of this entire magazine. It is overwhelming every now and again. But one Facebook message later, we get motivated and keep working.
