November 2016
Secon Chair UpdateMy dear Quality colleagues,
I hope this Chair Leer finds you well and thriving! November of 2016 will be a historic month that will be remembered for many years to come.
One reason is … how about them, Cubbies!!! As a sports’ fan, it is hard not toacknowledge the passion for a team that went through 108 years with theirshare of bad experiences from heart-breaking near victories to the momentlast Wednesday when the ball hit the leather of Anthony Rizzo’s glove. Gameaer game, their faithful fans found their spot either on a sit in Wrigley Field or listened on the radio or watched it on TV longing for a beer day. Well, that beer day happened on November 2nd! With a huge amount of respect to Cleveland, it was sweet to see the Chicago Cubs struggle one more me, see them get scrappy and find a way to win the 2016 Baseball World Series. Nothing less than inspiring!!
Not dragging this newsleer into polics, it is inevitable to menon next Tuesday November 8th in what will be a Presidenal Elecon that even has my 8 and 10-year-old children debang, and will be remembered by many of us, as one of the most peculiar moments in the history of our beloved country.More than ever, the vote from all cizens will have so much importance in shaping the future of not just our country, but the world. One way or another history will be wrien and I hope our younger generaons see the importance of character and find themselves inspired that we can all do beer! VOTE, let your voice be heard!
Here in our ASQ secon, the slate of 2017 Secon Officers were elected last month, thanks to Dave Nagy and George Mahews that came together to nominate and lead the elecon process during our last dinner meeng. Vinay Goyal (Vice Chair), Reepak Gugga (Secretary), Cory Goral (Treasurer) and I (Chair) had the honor and privilege to earn your vote of confidence to lead our secon through 2017. I would like to thank all our members for their support! I personally look forward to working with thisgreat team and making 2017 another great year for our ASQ Secon. We plan to work on a Quality Day Conference, a Career Day, as well as our staple offerings of dinner meengs, clinics and seminars to bring value to YOU, our valued members. Join us! Make a difference!!
Another great November goodie is World Quality Month. Don’t letit pass you by! Visit the hp://asq.org/world-quality-month web-site to parcipate and see how Quality Communies around the world celebrate our Profession! Inspire others with your successstories! Get inspired by the stories from others in our Global Quali-ty Community. There are few professions that can truly shape theworld…Quality is proudly one of them!! Be part of it!
With Reepak Gugga moving on to be our 2017 Secon Secretary, our secon will have a vacancy in our Leadership Commiee for the Voice of the Customer Chair posion. If you are passionate about cus-tomer sasfacon and would like to learn to be in a leadership role, call, email or talk to me! I am look-ing for a member from our secon that will help us posion our efforts and resources where they bring the most value to our ASQ Members! Join our team and help me lead the way which brings the price-less experiences to our members. The networking, learning and career opportunies are among some of the benefits we sow throughout the year.
It is one of my highest priories to focus what we do on what our members tell us that will enrich their careers. In the next few weeks, be part of these iniaves and parcipate in our annual survey to let us know what is important to you.
Lastly … don’t forget December’s Casino Night! Once again, Ned Schneider and our Programs’ team arepung a great event together for you to enjoy and put those stascal skills to the test. This will be our last event at the Double Tree Hotel and I hope to see you there! There will be great food, givea-ways and great company! Save the date, December 13th, join us and let’s celebrate and finish 2016!

Counter Intuitive Communication
Presented by: Daniel Midson-Short
We live in a new era of asynchronous, self-absorbed communica-tors. Texng and video messaging has taken precedence over face-to-face communicaon.

♦ How a culture of narcissism works for us, or against us
♦ How to use ‘Ambient Awareness’ to you advantage
♦ Why social technology is a friend and not an enemy (aguide to the current plaorms)
♦ How having an open agenda is a secret of influence in the modern era
Our speaker: Daniel Midson-Short
