Portugal is a small country in the Iberian Peninsula, on the western-most part of mainland Europe.

The country also includes the Atlantic archipelagos of the Azores and Madeira.

in the wars; green, to represent the hope and the trees of

the country. The armillary sphere represents the Portuguese

maritime discoveries and the coat of arms symbolizes the

National holidays:

25th April – «Carnation Revolution»

It celebrates the end of the dictatorship and war in the colonies

in 1974. The name "Carnation Revolution" comes from the fact

that almost no shots were fired and carnations were put into the

rifles and on the uniforms of soldiers.

1st May – "International Workers' Day"

It is celebrated to remember the people who fought against the

inhuman conditions of work existent until 1886.

10th June – Day of Portugal, Camões and the

Portuguese Communities

It marks the death of Luís Vaz de Camões (Portuguese poet) in
