Your special guide to buses in Swansea, Gower and MumblesVisitor attractions in the city, Gower and Mumbles are very well served by bus to and from Swansea. All bus routes leave from Swansea's modern, lively City Bus Station situated adjacent to the Quadrant Shopping Centre in the heart of the city. There are also buses to the wild mountain country to the north of the city (the Mawr) and brief details of these are included. Stylish Metro buses link the train and bus stations with many attractions inn and around the city.

General tips on using the busOn all buses to and from Gower and Mumbles, tickets are issued by the bus driver. It is possible to purchase First Day and Week ticket vouchers in advance at Swansea or Mumbles Tourist Information Centres at no extra cost. Tickets sold are single (one way) or return (round trip) though for most journeys it is advisable to buy First Day Swansea City tickets - or for most of Gower First Day Swansea Bay tickets. These tickets allow unlimited travel for a day in their areas; weekly tickets are also available. On services 8, 9 & 142, operated by South Wales

Transport, First Day tickets are not valid.

GETTING TO CITY ATTRACTIONS BY BUS

Arriving by TrainMany of the city's bus services call at the Train

Station. For the City Centre, Bus Station, St

Helen's, Singleton Park, the Welsh National

Pool and Swansea University, take the 4 or 4A

immediately outside the station. Connections

to all other bus services at the Bus Station. For

buses to the Liberty Stadium, Morriston, Cwm

Clydach, Pontardawe, Felindre & Mynydd y

Gwair, Fforestfach, Pontlliw and Pontarddulais,

cross the road outside the Train Station.

Arriving by Bus or CoachAll incoming bus and coach services come into

the City Bus Station. All city and regional buses

also leave from the Bus Station. Interchange

is attractive, the station is adjacent to the

Quadrant Shopping Centre and there are

excellent facilities for waiting or interchanging

passengers: Costa Coffee Shop, retail outlets

and fully accessible toilets. Staff at the

information kiosk are on hand to with your travel

enquiries and the Tourist Information Centre is

just 50 metres walk away.

Swansea Marina SA1 & 1940's Swansea BaySwansea Marina is a short walk from the Bus

Station and is also served by First route 7 (every

hour weekdays, daytime). The Dylan Thomas

Centre is served by First route 53 (weekdays,

infrequent). SA1, the developing docklands area

is further and served by First routes 44, 157, 158

& 224 (weekdays daytime, frequent). The 1940's

Swansea Bay attraction is served directly by

First 157 (every hour weekdays, daytime) and is

a short walk from the stop served by First 158,

224, X1, X3, X5 (weekdays daytime, frequent).

Dylan Thomas' Uplands, Sketty and KillayThere are very frequent daytime buses to

Uplands Square - a short walk to places

associated with Dylan's early life (First 15, 19,

20, 20A, 21, 29, 37, 118 weekdays daytime);

Sundays First 20 or 21A every half hour

daytime. For a unique view of Uplands and

direct to Cwmdonkin Park, take the South Wales

Transport service 8 or 9 (weekdays daytime,

infrequent). To get to hotels and guest houses in

Uplands, Sketty and Killay, services 20, 20A, 21,

21A & 118.

Singleton Park, Botanic Gardens & Boating LakeSingleton Park can be reached at the top end on

First services 20, 20A, 21, 21A or 118. The top

gate is most convenient for the Botanic Gardens.

The lower part of Singleton Park and the Boating

Lake is best reached on the 2, 2A, 2B, 2C, 3A, 4,

4A, 43 or 116 (very frequent weekdays daytime;

approximately four per hour evenings and

Sundays).

Swansea University, Wales National PoolFor the University Main Campus, the Taliesin

Theatre and Egypt Centre, take the 2A, 3A, 4,

4A, 43 or 116 (weekdays daytime, frequent;

approx. four per hour evenings & Sundays). For

the Wales National Pool, the same services,

alighting at the Singleton Hospital stop.

Swansea Metropolitan UniversityFor the Mount Pleasant (main) campus, First

services 11, 12 & 13 (weekdays daytime,

frequent; every half hour evenings & Sundays).

For the Townhill Campus, First services 12 & 13

(weekdays daytime, frequent; every half hour

evenings & Sundays).

Fforestfach: the Chocolate Factory & Skidz Go KartingTake First service X13 (weekdays, daytime every

half hour) alighting at the top of the Kingsway

from which it is a 5-10 minute walk to both

attractions.

Liberty Stadium & Morfa Retail ParkTake First services 4, 4A (weekdays daytime,

frequent; every half hour evenings & Sundays).

The bus stop is 100m from the stadium main

entrance. Morfa Retail Park is 5-10 minutes

walk from the Liberty Stadium stop.
