Escape plan maker www.direct.gov.uk/kids This is a special escape plan maker. Use it to draw a plan of your house, showing everyone how to get out if there is a fire. Ask your parents to help you work out the best routes. Keep it in a safe place where everyone can see it. Instructions: 1. Draw a floor plan on the grid opposite. If you have more than one floor in your home, you will need to print out an extra sheet for each floor. 2. There‛s an example of a floor plan below – see how all the walls and doors are marked clearly and each room is labelled. 3. Next, cut out the objects opposite and stick them to your floor plan. Remember to include the keys: ask your parents if you‛re not sure where these are kept. 4. Once your plan is complete, ask family or friends to help you work out the best escape route you can take, starting from your bedroom. 5. Work out two different routes – your favourite and a second way out (in case the first route is blocked by smoke or fire). Draw these routes as a red dotted line. 6. Pick an area outside your home where everyone can meet up when they are safely outside. Bedroom 1 Living room Kitchen Bedroom 2 WC
