be able to teach such a vital skill.
We extend our sincere gratitude to
the Shanghai Science & Technology
Management School for the donation
as well as the owners of Dedicated
Freight who assisted in clearing the
goods at the harbor.
We’re proud to say that at the time of
going to print, the language laboratory
was installed and ready for use.
Esayidi FET College and the
Shanghai Science & Technology
Management School have been
signed a memorandum of under-
standing in 2009 in which both
educational institutions commit-
ted to be involved in a skills, staff
& student exchange programme.
As part of the understanding, the
Shanghai STMS donated a 36-seat
language laboratory to Esayidi
FETC. A technician,Clive Tsha-
balala, and a facilitator, Vinod
Bansee travelled to Shanghai to
learn how to use the advanced
equipment.
In exchange, two technicians, Mr.
Ren & Mr. Dai have visited us to
assist in the installation of the
equipment at the Gamalakhe Media
Studies Centre during the month
of November 2011.
We further welcomed a delegation
from the Shanghai Municipal Edu-
cation Commission, who came to
officially hand over the donated
equipment to Esayidi FET College.
(see picture to the left)
The equipment will initially be
used to train ABET learners in
English . Once established, the
courseware will be adapted to offer
short courses in foreign languages.
We’re excited to be one of the first
FET Colleges in the country to
have this kind of equipment and to

Students. Mveliso received the
top merit award for academic
achievement in 2010. At a special
function held in Pretoria, Mveliso
received a trophy, a special en-
dorsed plaque and a cash prize.
Furthermore a prize of R10 000
was awarded to the Faculty of
Engineering (Enyenyezi Campus)
to purchase equipment. “We are
hoping that this superb achieve-
ment by one of our very own
Esayidi FET students serves as a
motivation to other students to
achieve excellence as well as
market our College positively
within our community,” said Mr.
Rajoo, Campus Manager of En-
yenyezi Campus. Mveliso is origi-
nally from Umzimkhulu and lives
with his mother and his grand-
mother. He was able to travel
for the first time with his mother
on an airplane and said that it had
been a great opportunity for him.

Skills Education Training Authorities. The
Port Shepstone and Enyenyezi campuses
have already registered with the MERSETA
and are offering trade tests to those in the

which will allow for better management of
resources.
We will strive to maintain the good rela-

the student representative council.
We also look forward to welcoming a new
College Council, appointed by the MEC for
Education.
Once again, welcome to Esayidi FET Col-

Sipho Nzimande (Ph.D) RECTOR
We are pleased that you have joined us this
year to further your education. Esayidi FET
College is now in its 9th year of existence and
has grown tremendously from just two main
campuses. We now have grown to five main
campuses and other skills delivery sites in
Gamalakhe, Boboyi, Kokstad and Port Shep-
stone. Each campus has over 2000 students,
studying programmes ranging from Informa-
tion Technology and Civil Engineering to
Hospitality Management and Primary Agri-
culture.
Our students have benefitted from both NCV
and NATED bursaries issued through NSFAS
for the last 3 years, seeing many accessing
free education with the hope of building a
sustainable future.
Our goals for this year include that of accred-
iting all skills programmes to bring such up

This was a knockdown tournament facilitated by the
local forum under the leadership of sensei Mandla
Ngubane. The forum had been initiated by Dr Sipho
Nzimande, who also is an experienced sportsman in
the marital arts.

assistance to the
forum. He ob-
served that the tournament had been of high standard.
Whilst the underlying objective had been to market
the FET College to the participating and attending
youth, expected outcomes also were for establishing
healthy relations amongst the dojos of the area by
bringing together different karate styles.
The Hibiscus Coast Youth Sport office had also been
represented by Thokozani Nzama who is presently
facilitating that the winning fighters also participate in
the KWANALOG A games of 2011.
