E&S Wood Creations has been commited to its craft since 1987, creating furniture in the nest Amish traditions in rural Indiana. E&S Wood Creationshas a 7,200 square foot production facility and uses up-to-date machinery. But even with these new tools and machinery, each piece of furniturereceives lots of hands-on attention to ensure that quality is present in each piece. Select grade wood, quality hardware, carefully tted parts and lotsof attention to detail becomes worth the wait when you see the quality. The Nature Of Wood

Wood is a product of nature and therefore acts in ways beyond human control. All hardwood has variation in its color and grain.These wood characteristics will put their own unique touch to each piece of solid wood furniture. Even though we go through thesame building process, no two pieces will be exactly the same.

Most hardwoods are open grained, causing solid wood furniture to expand and contract with changes in temperature and humid-ity, even after protective nishes have been applied. These temperature changes may cause the wood to crack or have surfacechecks. This is not abnormal and these are not considered as aws, but rather natures beauty marks.

Indoor humidity should be kept in the 35-40% range to minimize these effects. Solid wood should be kept away from directsources of heating and cooling and should not be stored in attics or basements. Direct sunlight and uorescent xtures that con-tain ultraviolet rays can cause chemical changes in wood and nish and therefore should be avoided.

When cared for properly your solid wood furniture will become a piece of timeless beauty, one that will be treasuredfor generations.

Real or Imitation?

Not sure if youre buying solid hardwood or a chip imitation? A check point is the glue joints. Put your nger on a glue joint andtrace it along the top of the surface, over the edge, and to the underside. If the line disappears its probably an imitation. Solidhardwood joints on the other hand can be traced across the top, the side and the underside.

Care of Solid Wood Furniture

If cared for properly your solid hardwood furniture can give you a lifetime of service and beauty. Here are several care tips thatwill enhance your solid hardwood furniture investment:

Place your furniture away from radiators, replaces, and heating ducts.

Position furniture out of direct sunlight or adjust blinds to avoid hour after hour of direct sunlight.

Control humidity to 40%45%. In winter use a humidier, in summer use a dehumidier or air conditioner.

Use padding under all sharp, hot, or cold objects.

Avoid using nail polish remover, alcohol, and other solvents near or on furniture.

Routine Cleaning and Care

DUST CAREFULLY with a soft cloth, follow-ing the grain pattern of the wood. Use an oldT-shirt or cheesecloth that has been laundered toremove the sizing.

DUST OFTEN to remove everyday abrasiveparticles from wood surfaces.

CONSIDER CLEANING with a mild non-alkaline soap and water. Use the suds in a dampsponge or cloth, but be sure to pre-test thesolution on an out-of-sight section to make sureit doesnt damage the nish. Dry immediatelywith a soft cloth and buff lightly, following thegrain.

DONT WAX or use any polish that contains anysilicones! Catalyzed heat and moisture resistantnishes dont need additional polish, but if youwant to use a polish we recommend GuardsmanFurniture Polish.
