Ersa, having an important place in the office furniture production industry in Turkey thanks to its reliability and quality, was established in 1958. Today, third generation members of the family are also part of the management team and the company produces seating solutions, such as chairs and sofas in addition to office furniture. Tables, work stations, consoles, pedestals and coffee tables, partition panel systems, file & archive cabinets and lockers are among the products of Ersa.

Ersa believes that productivity, which is one of the most important components of contemporary business life, can be achieved with motivation and works to encourage motivation in business environments by functional, practical, ergonomic and customized designs. Ersa also supports its products with details like natural materials, lighting units, and integrated technological products in order to make its customers feel comfortable.

Ersa has two showrooms in Ankara,

one is in the factory and the other

in Gaziosmanpaa. It has carried

its experience lasting more than

half a century to Istanbul by its new

showroom in Fulya, Istanbul. The

showroom was designed by Yaln Tan

and Jeyan lk and serves in 1.300

m2 are in Terrace Fulya.

The showroom designed with the

Box in a Box concept, reflecting

the engineering talent and flexible

manufacturing infrastructure of Ersa,

is inspired by different materials

used in furniture production. The

showroom hosts giant boxes

that are produced from metal and

wood and attracts customers with

informative product exhibitions and

graphic installations. Production in

Ankara can be watched live from the

monitors in the showroom.

in Ankara operating in nearly 60

thousand m2 of which 35 thousand

m2 is composed of closed areas.

The factories are equipped with

the latest production technologies

and have 4.5 million m2 panel

processing, 500 thousand linear

meters of laminate panels and

530 thousand units of furniture

production capacity in a single

shift. Ersa uses environment &

human friendly raw materials

and accessories, and designs

ergonomic, healthy, comfortable

and recyclable furniture.

certificate. Ersa assures the

occupational health and safety of

its 280 employees with OHSAS

18001:2007 certificate. With the

environment friendly infrastructure

in its facilities, Ersa burns dust of

its production in special ovens and

satisfies its energy and heating

requirements, therefore, it does not

consume natural gas. Ersa does not

pollute air by its special filtering

chimneys. By covering the roof of

the new facility established in 2009

transparently, the facility does not

consume energy in the daytime for

lighting.

product sustainability services and

The Eco Design Project for Ersa

is one the first implementations

of this fruitful collaboration.

The project focuses on green

product design as well as green

business model design. Taking

into consideration the fact that

80% of environmental impacts can

be influenced during the product

design stage, the benefits of eco

design are significant in terms of

environmental sustainability.

In addition to that, it provides

companies with measurable

advantages compared to other

actors in the same sector; such

as brand enhacement, product

innovation, compliance, risk

management, product differention

and cost reductions.

In compliance with the above cited

criteria and in full cooperation with

Ersas design and production teams,

BoXer and PE International are

currently working on the project.

The future outcome of the latter;

Ersas Green Line could consist of

some the greenest furnitures ever

produced and marketed in Turkey.

takes the presence, identity and

status of the user as the standpoint

and has a strong style in office

furniture industry where functionality

and quality are indispensable

requirements. Technological inputs

suggested with the products are

integrated with the products and

therefore comfort rather that glitter

is promoted. Another point making

the product original is expression

of natural wealth and power of the

materials with the design. In order

to satisfy this, challenging details,

production techniques and high

quality workmanship are used.

The SO Operative System designed

by the multi-faceted Italian designer

and interior architect Claudio Bellini

for Ersa, is litterarly an open system.

SO is designed to meet the all the

needs of the contemporary work

environment. It is not only a perfect

modular system of desks, benches,

tables, work stations and fitting

accessories; but also a whole new

space and living environment where

the workers feel comfortable and

happy during long office hours.

SO Operative Systems basic design

principle is light thinking. As a

result, all the components and details

that are not needed have already

been eliminated during the design

process. This is how; a platform that

is single, functional, clean and clear

at the same time is achieved. Simple

thinking and a simple structure is

Bellinis guideline. Reduced elements

gathered together with strenght and

flexibility create the dynamic effect

of lightness and durability in perfect

harmony. It goes without saying that

material and color choices only justify

this magic formula.

transformations. Working

configurations must be continually

modified based on new exigencies:

staff changes, ad hoc meetings,

difficult to administer. The desk, the

fundamental module for working, is

a table composed of a fitted work

surface available in various forms and

Yaln Tan was born in Izmir in 1969 and

studied in stanbul. After his graduation from

Bilkent University Interior Architecture and

Environmental Design Department, he worked

established his own company. After 5 years

partnership with Jeyan lk.

From the establishment, the company is

focused on office, retail and residential

projects. They give project design, consultancy

and application services to many either

local or international brands and institutions.

They are also responsible for local project

management and application consultancy of

many global brands. The company continues

Sezgin Akan was born in Ankara. Receiving

her secondary education at the the Tabeetha

School in Tel Aviv and the Kadky Anadolu

Lycee in Istanbul, she received her professional

training at the Industrial Design Department

of Middle East Technical University in Ankara.

Following her university education, she served

as a researcher at the same department for

4 years and then as a part-time instructor

at the Interior Design Department of Bilkent

University, also in Ankara.

Akan is a founder and partner of the Studio

Contract Design Company. She has completed

the interior design projects of banks, offices,

stores and restaurants for several national and

international companies, including Mitsubishi,

Reuters, Telerate, Giat Industries, Bank

Indosuez, Deutche Aerospace, Japon Tabacco,

Ulusoy, Krfez Bank, Torkut, Usa-SAS, Oyak,

OMK, Azzaro, and Polo. She was also the

designer of Studio Contract Designs office

furniture program. Currently she is in charge

of her companys interior design and furniture

design projects.

Outside of her professional activities, Sezgin

Akan is an accomplished jewellery designer.

Her work has been exhibited and carried

by galleries in Ankara, stanbul, London and

Amsterdam.

Since 2004, Akan has been teaching courses

on new jewellery and digital jewellery at

METUs Industrial Design Department, where

she also attends the Graduation Project

course. She is one of the founders of the

Industrial Design Society of Turkey.

Claudio Bellini lives and works in Milan where

he was born in 1963. In 1990, he graduated

in Architecture and Industrial Design from

Milan Polytechnic and embarked on a series

of international experiences, taking part in

research projects in the fields of industrial

architecture and furniture design.

In 1998, he designed the TW Collection for

Frezza, a timeless products which marked

his official arrival and specialization in office

design, a sector in which he has received

numereous awards. In the years that followed,

he worked with a number of historic firms in

the field of Italian and international design as

well as working on interior design projects

for major showrooms and articipating in

numerous architecture competitions.

2006 saw the foundation of Claudio

Bellini Design + Design, a design studio

distinguished by formal and technological

research with a decidedly experimental

approach which is carried out in the prototype

laboratory in the studio.

He teaches the course in Design and

Furnishings at Genoa Polytechnic. Since

2003, he has been art director for Barazzoni.

At present, the Claudio Bellini studio is

working on a number of major international

architecture projects.

Ece Yalm, besides her professional career

continues since 2004 to teach part time in the

Middle East Technical University on the topic

of Colors in Industrial Design and also acts

as graduation project consultant. She also

continues her position as ETMK vice president

since 2008.

M. Ouz Yalm has graduated from the

department of Fine Arts Interior design and

Environmental design of Bilkent University

in 1993. Between the years 1993-1995 he was

employed as an interior design architect at

Argeta Construction and Decoration company.

He continues his endeavours in Artful Interior

Architecture and design company which he

established together with his wife Ece Yalm

in 1996.

He has implemented numerous projects like

restaurants, galleries, office and home design

passion, Tamer Nak has been collaborating

with the industry leaders, bringing his ideas

and visions into everyday life.

Tamer Nak started his design carrier at

Fiat Advanced Design Concept Lab- Milan,

in 2004. He drew the worlds attention by

winning his first international award at the

Nokia Benelux Design Awards with "888", a

revolutionary from-changing mobile device he

designed for Nokia. In 2009 he ranked among

the Europe's 100 Young Creative Talents and

represented stanbul at the Creativity Forum

held in Brussels. His ideas and dreams could

be described as innovative, emotional and

futuristic and are embodied in the striking

forms of his designs.

section, in 1998 he went to United States

of America and he worked as a designer in

firehouse designing team and became an

expert on design patent. In 2000, he returned

to Turkey and worked in nurus as a director

of desing and r&d office furniture designing

and design management. Since 2004 he has

worked in his company and provides design

services.

Sector specialist in office furniture companies

getting the product in to the design process

by providing services in all stages has been

a first in Turkey. Design flow as the company

is also capable of producing a significant

pressure on desiners to create designs that

can be implemented and establish the bond

between producer and user. Erciyas believes

a holistic approach to the design process

should be handled which is considering. In

this context, Middle East Technical University

in industrial design (Dynamics of production

Paola De Francesco was born in Milan in

1969. In 1996, she graduated in Architecture

in University of Milan. Before graduating, in

1994 she began her collaboration with G14

in Milan developing architectural projects for

housing development and worked with teams

responsible for competitions.

In 1997 she joined Cibic&Partners Studio

working in projects as the new interior image

of the Valerio Catullo Airport (1998) with

Zoran Minic. In 2000, she specialized in Art.

In 2003, she started on his collaboration

with the Pop Solid Fabrication Group, a

self-produced design brand with a series of

design pieces for the Orange Room Collection.

She keeps on her activity as a designer and

architect giving life to the DeFrancesco+Silva

Studio in 2004 in Milan.

Joao Ramos Silva was born in Faro, Portugal,

in 1973. He graduated in Design from the

University of Algarve in Faro in 1996. The

following year, he moved to Lisbon to study

Architecture in the Universidade Lusofona de

Humanidades e Technologias.

He completed his architecture studies and

graduated from Politecnico di Milano in 2000.

In same year, he met Aldo Cibic and Zoran

Minic and joined Cibic&Partners Studio.

In 2003, he started on his collaboration

with the Pop Solid Fabrication Group, a

self-produced design brand with a series of

design pieces for the Orange Room Collection.

He keeps on his activity as a designer and

architect giving life to the DeFrancesco+Silva

Studio in 2004 in Milan.
