InApril, we headed back toAustralia for a twelve daystint on the road.

This time around we also went to NewZealand, for our first ever concertthere.

We opened our tour in the trulybeautiful Auckland. We were totallyblown away by the panoramic viewswe beheld as we flew in for the firsttime.

From there, we flew on to Australiawhere we had concerts in Adelaide,Newcastle and Melbourne.

EHSS back Down Under

With the family of Kelvin Williams, our good friend and promoter in Newcastle.

Easterfest Press Conference without the sick Ernie....

The crowd during our Easterfest appearance...

With our tour promoter, Zenon Els, RIGHT.

Pictured below with Michael W. Smith

Undoubtedly one of the highlights ofthe trip was a concert in Hillsongs, inSydney. To play at that famouschurch was a great experience, butto play on the same bill as Michael W.Smith and Mercy Me was quiteamazing.

We were playing to a crowd that waspretty unfamiliar with our music, and ifwe say so ourselves, we brought thehouse down! Each of the three actsplayed for an hour and we opened theshow that evening.

For the last leg of the tour we headedto Toowoomba. Here we took part inEasterfest, the largest Gospel MusicFestival in the Southern Hemisphere.

Michael W Smith and Mercy Me wereonce again the headline acts. Weappeared just before Michael andplayed to over 10,000 people. Erniewas quite ill that day with some sort ofstomach bug, but he persevered andno-one would have known that hewasn’t 100%. We are honored tohave been the first Southern Gospelact ever to grace that stage.

The following day we headlined ourown show for Easterfest in a beautifultheatre in Toowoomba.

It was great to join up with our oldfriend Kelvin Williams and his familyfor the Newcastle show and a guidedtour of Sydney. Kelvin also promotedour Newcastle show.

And thanks to Zenon Els of“Encounter” for putting the entire tourtogether. We hope it wont be too longuntil we are able to return to thatgorgeous part of our world!

Could YOU write ahit Gospel song?

My great friend Wayne Haun is involved in an exciting newproject to teach people how to write songs. I sat down with himafter a show recently and asked him about it so that I could letyou all know what’s happening. Here’s what he told me....

So Wayne, tell me about the fact that you are eventually going to make it onto the internet?

Well, it's not quite as it may seem. I never was a big fan of Facebook andTwitter and all of that, so I've never had accounts there. With three email addressesincluding business accounts, I just don’t have the time to commit to something as bigand time-consuming as Facebook. And that’s NOT going to change. What I amdoing is taking part in a joint project on song writing with my good friend JoelLyndsay. That project WILL have a Facebook presenece and a blog. So I guess you

say that I will be on Facebook, but not in the normal sense.

I see, that makes sense. So what's the blog all about?

As you know, Joel and I have been writing songs together for longer than we care to remember. And mostnights at the product table, I have people coming up to me asking about song writingor telling me that they’ve written a song or something like that. So Joel and I thought itwould be fun to have a blog about song writing in the gospel genre. We have a lot ofexperience between us. So we have teamed up with Trevor King, who works inmanagement for you and has a lot of technical know-how, and we hope to launch thisthing VERY soon.

Yes, you certainly have the experience! Apart from EHSS, what other artistshave you written songs for?

I’ve had cuts by Avalon, the Martins, Earl Scruggs, Dailey and Vincent.Janet Paschal, Jeff & Sherry Easter, Lynda Randall, Karen Peck & New River, thePerrys, and many more. And we are currently working on some more that we can’treally speak about yet.

And you guys have quite a few Dove Awards between the two of you aswell…..

Yes, between the two of us we have 29. And we attribute that to working withso many great artists in so many different fields.

Wow, that's quite a collection. I know, because I once opened a desk drawer in your office and they almost fellout. What can we expect from the blog?

It could be an article on any aspect of song writing. It could be a short video about a song writer we admire.Or it could just be random musings for that week. You never do know! But it should be entertaining and fun. I recorded afew videos when we were in Australia and I know Joel is working on a few as well.

And is this for existing song writers or complete novices?

It's for absolutely everyone. Most people have a song in them. It may never be a world wide hit, but it may belyrics that they will leave behind for their grand-kids or something. We just want to try to encourage people to getthoughts down on a piece of paper; get it out there. And the more experienced song writer will certainly pick up a few tipsas well.

Sounds cool. Where should people go to join you in this blog?

They can go to www.YouWriteSongs.com and there they will see the blog. They can link to the Facebook pageand so on.

Thanks Wayne, looking forward to it.

Although Franklin Grahampreached in Englishalongside a Hungarianinterpreter this weekend inBudapest, the 36,175 whoattended over three nightsunderstood him in thelanguage of the Spirit.

“You may not know hisEnglish words,” saidemcee Gergo Suveges,“but you can see FranklinGraham’s sincerity. Youcan see his passion forJesus, and more importantthan the translation, youcan hear him—and theLord—in the language ofyour heart if you let Himin.”

One counselor named Balázs experienced first-hand howGod can transcend language barriers. He struggled at firstwhile praying with a mentally ill 31-year-old man whocame forward. But Balázs soon realized that this man wasreally moved by the Spirit.

“I didn’t think he understood what was happening,” saidBalázs. “Then I saw the tears in his eyes, a change in hiscountenance. God can speak in simple ways too and I knowHe wants all people to come to Him.”

On Friday night, Balázs had a much different counselingexperience. “This 36-year-old was very skeptical andintelligent,” explained Balázs. “In his case, he had to overcomeyears of preconceived ideas from religion and just read theBible for himself.”

The man’s daughter began to go to church this past Christmasand he attended Sunday School classes with her. But it wasreally the quiet moments of soaking in God’s Word thatchanged his heart.

“It was a slow, deliberate process for this man to accept Jesustonight,” said Balázs. “It is interesting to see how no one couldhave designed this but God. He works differently in eachheart.”

Another counselor—Sárpi—watched as one teen sharedChrist with a 16-year old on a bus travelling to the Festival.“That boy got saved before he even walked in the door of thearena!” Sárpi exclaimed with a smile.

At the end of the night, he and a female counselor prayed witha young woman who was the ex-girlfriend of a boy in his youthgroup. “While they were a couple,” Sárpi explained, “weprayed that she would come to know Christ as her Savior. They broke up and we lost track of her.”

Sárpi couldn’t believe it when he saw her walking forward toaccept Jesus all these months later. “I guess our prayers wereheard and we didn’t even know it.”

These are just a few stories from the 2,727 who gave theirhearts to Jesus this weekend. The local committee members, who have prayed and labored over the Festival for years, saidthey were overjoyed.

“We think the three days passed too quickly,” said Rev. JanosPapp. “It was amazing. We prayed for so long but I didn’t even

comprehend what God would do here. I cannot begin toexpress my gratitude and joy.”

Rev. Papp said his heart was especially full on Saturday as hewatched scores of youth from Hungary and beyond comeforward to begin a new life with Christ.

“I saw families and young children from my own church acceptChrist,” said Papp. “But it is most exciting to see the youthmeet Jesus. They are the future of this country and they arethe ones who can bring lasting change to Hungary. Now theyhave direction and Budapest has new hope.”

With Franklin Graham in Budapest...In what has been a season of first time experiences for us, we were delighted to be asked to singat the Franklin Graham event in Budapest. Here’s an account of that event from a local journalist...

Michael Buble's Christmasrecord. People like PaulMcCartney from the Beatlesare walking in everyday andthey hear all this different sortof music and so I watched himas we were listening andfinishing the product. Here hewas sitting off to the side andI'm watching and I see his footgoing and by the time it wasover we exchanged emailaddresses and cell phonenumbers. It may not be his styleof music, but it's good, andeven if you don't like that styleof music, he's like 'I'm comingto your concert. Will you cometo LA? I'm coming and I'mbringing friends.' It takes timeand what's that line in thecommercial, 'Ernest and Julio

Gallo will sell no wine beforeits time.' I'm stealing this linefrom Gaither, 'We will sell norhyme until it's time'. The rutthat we get into as touringgroups and musicians is wefeel like we've got to have anew record every 12 monthsbecause we're going back toIndianapolis literally everytwelve months.

What has been great for uswith your help and withGaither's help, is that withsinging to the world andtravelling, that has givenDetroit and those markets achance to catch its breath. We get lots of chances towrite, so that when we comeback into those cit iesfamiliarity doesn't breed

contempt and we have freshnew material and also still theclassics that people come toexpect.

That's what I said toyou at dinner tonight. This isquartet music, but to borrow aphrase from Star Trek, “not aswe know it”.

Not as we know it.

Well honestly, some ofthe songs on this album areamazing.

Thank you, that's whatwe try to achieve. Every notewas labored over.

The very reason for flying out toCapitol Records in LA to mixthe record was to create aclassic sound. The same missand chamber sounds that wereused on Nat King Cole, FrankSinatra and more recentlyMichael Buble' were used onour new Here We Are Againproject.

We wanted to create a recordthat sounded classy. You haveyour sounds of the 80s, soundsof the 90s, and there are thesesounds of different eras. Iwanted to create a SignatureSound record with greatcontent, great energy, andgreat songs with a new 'not aswe know it' sound that feels likeyou've heard it before.

I think you've done it.Well tell me in closing, after 25years I know your appetite'sstill there because we talkabout it. We don't spend half anhour where we don't talkbusiness and that's how it isand we love what we do. You'reas excited as ever, I can tell.

I am. The guys on thebus, the crew that I have, we'reall so excited about this newrecord and we've all workedtogether for it. You're ready toget that piece of art out there, tosee it on people's faces andhow they react. Yeah SoundScan, Billboard, all those aregauges. But when we recordeda song on this record called'Any Other Man' as a bonustrack, we recorded it live inBucharest, Romania. We gotto see it get out there in the

public and you see it received. That's the greatest reward.

That was an amazingnight for all of us to see thereaction.

It was and I'm glad wedid it and I'm glad that itworked. The equipment wasn'tthe best, the mix was not thegreatest, but you're going tocatch the energy that is there –no recording whether it beaudio or video can recaptureh e a r t a n d s p i r i t a n dspontaneity, but I think thissong did and it got the closestwe've ever had.

To finish, do you

remember, and we haven'ttalked about this so I hope youdo, do you remember the ladyin Sweden who came to you? She'd been going throughsevere depression.

Oh yeah.

Could you share thatwith us? Because this is whatwe find everywhere we go and,to be fair, it's the same withGaither. He gets stories andstories of how these songschanged lives. But that one

stuck in my mind. Can youshare that with us?

Can you imagine a ladywalking up who is ready tocommit suicide, ready to quit onlife? Not just a job or arelationship, but on life. That's apretty dark spot. She thoughtthat things are not going to getany better so I'm just going toend it. I'm recapping her storyto say she was at that point; inher own world, she was at thatpoint. She heard “ReasonEnough”, a song that Wayneand I wrote. It's not just themusic, it's not the singing. Atthis point you know it's theSpirit of God breaking throughthe darkness with His eternallight and given them a shred of

hope that they can go on forone more day, one more hour,or one more minute.

Once you put together a fewdays of hope then that light ofGod's love starts shining inyour heart. The Bible says youhelp those with the way you'vebeen helped. Now she's goingaround helping other people.

Music is one of the greatestgifts that God has ever made. And you think of the creativepoint of God and all of thethings that we even know ofthat keep this universetogether. We think it's a one-time creation thing, but God'screating every day. Every timewe get a chance to just have asmall part in this creativeprocess, whether it is a paintinglike that one over there, or asong; whenever you get achance to do something, do it,as the Bible says “to the glory ofGod”. It puts His wonderfulmajesty on display.

If people have been blessed by

the message, it is not wrong forthem to appreciate themessenger. She just to tellme her story because it was oursong. This lady hadn't eaten beforethe concert because shecouldn't be sure that she wouldcatch us afterwards. She was avery classy, attractive, hip, verystylish young lady with a younghusband and two little kids thatthey left at home with relatives

Every notewas labored over.

so they could have that timewith us. He (the husband) said“I tried to love her and I tried tohelp her through it, but Icouldn't reach her. She couldn'tget out of bed, she couldn'twake up, she couldn't getthrough this. Thank you forgiving me back my wife”. Theyw e r e n ’ t t h a n k i n g u sspecifically: they were justsaying thanks for being there.

Yeah I used to have a greatappetite to do what I do, and Ilove what I do, but I don't love itenough to have those daysaway from Lisa that I've hadaway from her.

My mom and dad are gettingolder now, and all my niecesand nephews that I just adoreare growing up. I don't love(travelling) enough to abandonthem because the days I'maway from them are the days Iknow I’ll never get back. If I had$5 million to my name, I can'tbuy a day. If I'm going to be outhere, I want it to count forsomething.

I really believe we are andwhen it stops counting forsomething on that level, I thinkGod will let me know: you had agood run and your time is over.It's time to do something else. Iwill gladly step aside and letsomebody else handle theburden that's not heavy, but it'sa b u r d e n , o f r u n n i n g ,managing, and trying tom a i n t a i n a l e v e l o fprofessionalism vocally.

I covet everybody's prayersand I want to do this a little bitlonger. So just pray for us thatGod will give us the wisdom onhow to navigate the ship andthat we can continue to justbring hope to a hopelessgeneration - it's pretty bleakout there.

t's a tough world. Wehave seen that in the last sixmonths because we didRomania, we did Latvia, andthe story in Romania aboutthe young lady who cameafter the concert becauseshe couldn't afford a ticket.

Yeah and it broke ourheart and here's Trevorcrying and pulling out thatlittle hanky that's wadded up.She's probably like 20 and 'Ilove your music. I love yourmusic', well she's staying inthe lobby so I'm like 'Did youhave a good time?' and she'slike 'No I didn't come to theconcert. I couldn't afford it.'That wasn't a sales pitch.

It was only a fewdollars - it wasn't expensive.

We've got so much tobe grateful for over here andso I hollered at you and youcame over and gave hereverything on the table.

Well you just plant

those seeds. We're not a non-profit organization so we don'task for money, we just don't dothat. We try to sell CDs and selltickets and every once in awhile somebody will slip somemoney in my hand. Those arethe stories you don't hear. Godis using it and we're trying to begood stewards with people’strust. More than anything elseis that we covet your prayers.

That's why Facebook, Twitter, and all these social things thatwe're trying to do through you(Trevor) are important. Wehave to stay in touch becauselike I said before, if I can keeppeople energized about whatwe're doing, then you will bethat much more prone to prayfor us.

Believe me that going downsome of those roads inRomania – literally, I said“Somebody's praying for us!”We wouldn't be alive if theyhadn’t been! There were somescary moments! We wanted tolet you know we absolutelyappreciated your prayers.
