We specialize In Indigenous Inspired apparel deeply root-ed in the land. Stay Rooted was created by Nêhiýaw (Cree) Mother daughter duo Kiya Bruno and Barbara Dumigan-Jackson their mission is to help spread awareness to help save our kikâwînaw askiy (Mother Earth). We are called " Stay Rooted " because we don't just want to plant trees and protect our nipiy (water), but we are also rooted within our culture, teachings, stories and traditions. We want to share the Importance of em-bracing culture through meaningful designs and apparel. Being rooted provides us with a sense of belonging and helps us remember who we are and where we come from as Nêhiyaw ( Cree) people, and as Nêhiýaw people we are people of the land. It’s important we stay rooted In the land and we believe we have a responsibility to protect and preserve our kikâwînaw askiy (Mother Earth) & nipiy (Water). Our hope is to Inspire and motivate others on their journey to continue giving back to the land, protecting our nipiy (water) and help end the First Nation water crisis within Canada. We strongly believe that everyone should have the right to clean drinking water. With your purchase, " Stay Rooted " is able to take ac-tion and give back to our people and kikâwînaw askiy (Mother Earth). For every item you buy we will plant 5 trees, we also started a nipiy (water) fund where we will

donate 10 percent of proceeds made so we can provide a family with a water filtration system in a First Nation community. Our goal for the future is to plant thousands of trees across Canada and provide more than one family with a water filtration system. We hope you will follow our jour-ney. Congratulations to 2020 the Post-Secondary Graduates!

Deirdra Cutarm

Deirdra was a summer student for the Wetaskiwin Heritage Museum for a

few summers and they allowed her to have a grad walk and photo oppor-

tunity for herself and family. It was a great experience to celebrate Deirdra

and her hard work, as she walked with live pow wow music.

Deirdra is a role model for Ermineskin and Maskwacis Youth with all her

achievements while being a student at the U of A. She was the president of

the Aboriginal Student Council and she's also featured on the brochures for

the Indigenous First Nation, Metis & Inuit Handbook. Our family is very

proud of her and its awesome that the Nation is also recognizing and cele-

brating graduates.

“There is nothing more beautiful than finding your

course as you believe you bob aimlessly in the current.

Wouldn’t you know that your path was there all along,

waiting for you to knock, waiting for you to become.

This path does not belong to your parents, your

teachers, your leaders, or your lovers. Your path is

your character defining itself more and more everyday

like a photograph coming into focus.”
