A Julia is from Bulgaria. Read about her life. Then read the sentences on the next page. Write T (true) or F (false).
4. READING
Julia is fifteen years old and she lives in Stara Zagora in Bulgaria. She’s
got a brother who is seventeen and they live with their parents and
their grandmother in a small flat in the centre of the town. She goes
to a language school and studies English for four hours every day.
She also studies all the other subjects like Maths and Geography but
her favourite subject is English. Every evening after school, she does
her homework and then she listens to music. She hardly ever watches
television because she doesn’t like the Bulgarian programmes. She
enjoys English comedies and American films and she sometimes
watches sports programmes because she plays tennis.
Julia’s mother works in an office and her father works in a factory. They
are very busy and they don’t have much free time but at the weekends
they usually visit friends and family. Julia and her cousin Magda go to
the cinema every Saturday evening and on Sundays they study together
because they’re in the same class at school.
Julia likes Stara Zagora because there are a lot of places to visit and
she’s got a lot of friends there. When she finishes school, she wants to
go to university and study English because she wants to be an English
teacher.

A Read this email from Max about television programmes. Reply to the email. Tell him/her about the TV programmes you like. Use Max’s email to help you.
6. WRITING
Hi Paul
Do you watch television at home? What kind of programmes do you watch in your
country? I have a television in my bedroom but I don’t watch it often. I have a lot of
homework so I don’t usually watch television after school. My favourite programmes are
documentaries because I love animals. I never watch the news because I get angry!
And I never watch comedies or soaps because I think they’re stupid. At the weekends I
sometimes watch sports programmes because I like football.
Max
