• Born in Syracuse, New York in 1929• Moved to Germany when he was six years old• Graduated from a prestigious art school and decided to move back to New York

• Laura Ingalls Wilder Award from the American for Library Service to Children in 2003 for his lifetime contribution to children's literature and illustration.

• The NEA Foundation Award for Outstanding Service to Public Education in 2007

• First Prize for Picture Books from the International Children’s Book Fair in Italy

• American Institute of Graphics Arts Award in 1970

• Okay so let me know what everyone thinks? Are the videos okay? Should I add more pics? More references? Anything else you can think of? Also for some reason the tiny seed and chameleon I had a hard trouble copyin a pic, so if someone can find a better one I dono what I was doing wrong…
