    Volume 1, Issue 24President Isaias Holds talks with Amir of Qatar on bilateral issues

    On 07 -08 December, President Isaias Af-werki, conducted a working visit to Qatar.

    During his stay, the President heldtalks with the Amir of Qatar, SheikTemim Bin Hamad Al -Thani, onenhancing bilateral ties and cooper-ation of partnership, as well asissues of interest to both countries.

    On his arrival in Doha InternationalAirport, President Isaias waswelcomed by the Qatari Minister ofCulture and Arts, Dr. Hammed BinAbdul -Aziz Al -Kawari.

    President receives credentials of Ambassadors of Qatar and China

    On the 16 th of December 2014, PresidentIsaias Afwerki received the credentialsof the new Ambassadors of Qatar to Eri-trea, Mr. Mohammed Bin Rashid Al -Humeidi, and Mr. Qiu Xuejun of thePeoples Republic of China (PRC). Theceremony took place at Denden Hall inthe capital. In the ceremony, the President asserted

    Eritreas readiness to further enhancethe existing close Eritrean -Qatarities. The Qatari Ambassador on his

    part explained that he will exertefforts to further expand andstrengthen the prevailing relations

    between the two countries in alldomains.

    Qatar Airways begins flight to and from Eritreastarting 05 Dec. 2014. During the inaugurationceremony conducted at Asmara Palace Hotel,the Minister of Transport and Communications,Mr. Tesfaselasie Berhane, and other Ministers,

    senior government and PFDJ officials, heads ofnational Associations, managers of the Airways and the Qatari Ambassador to Eritrea,Mr. Hamad Mohammed Bin -Rashid Humeidi,as well as invited guests attended.

    On the occasion, Mr. Paulos Kahsai, DirectorGeneral of the Eritrean Civil Aviation Authori-ty, noted the significance of the flight service,

    and expressed collaboration with the Airways in all itsactivities.

    Like wise, Mr. Marwan Koleilat, Qatar Airways ChiefCommercial Officer, commended the prevailing collab-

    oration and longstanding relations between Eritrea andQatar, and expressed his appreciation for the supportextended by the Eritrean government in launching ofthe flight.

    The flight service to Eritrea is taking place twice aweek on Friday and Sunday.

    In the same vein, upon receiving the credentialsof Ambassador Qiu Xuejun of the PeoplesRepublic of China, President Isaias commendedthe impressive economic stride that the PRC hasregistered and expressed conviction that suchachievement lays firm groundwork for the Chi-nese government to make significant contributionas regards major regional and international issues.

    Noting that Eritrean -Chinese relations lies onsolid ground, as well as shared values and views,President Isaias said that bilateral ties has regis-tered significant pace, and expressed convictionthat it attain higher stage in the years ahead.

    In remarks he made on the occasion, Ambassador QiuXuejun highly appraised the heroic struggle of the Eri-trean people for liberation and national independence.He further noted that they are presently engaged in en-deavors to develop a national economy based on social

    justice.

    Following the presentation of credentials, the Ambassa-dor also told the Eritrean News Agency, Erina, that hewill exert persistent effort to further deepen and enhanceEritrean -Chinese relations.

    The principle of equal access to the national resources and opportunities governsEritreas development strategy, Ambassador Girma underlines

    Ambassador Girma Asmerom, Eritreas Perma-nent Representative to the United Nations, saidthat the principle of equal access to the nationalresources and opportunities governs Eritreas de-velopment strategy.

    The Ambassador made this remarks during theG-77 Ministerial Meeting on Governance of

    Natural Resources and Industrialization held inTarija, Bolivia, 28 -29 November 2014.

    In his statement, Ambassador Girma explained thatthe State and the Government of Eritrea are duty

    bound to ensure the conservation and sustainabledevelopment of national resources for the benefitof the people.

    Furthermore, the Ambassador gave emphasis onEritreas peaceful and politically stable and cor-ruption -free environment, as well as attractive in-

    vestment law, coupled with strong commitment of theleadership to develop the economy. As a result ofthis, Ambassador Girma stated that 17 mining com-

    panies from different countries are already been at-tracted to work in Eritrea on the basis of equal part-nership and equitable share of benefits.

    Ambassador Girma also pointed out that exchangingviews on how we can maximize utilization of ourresources in sustainable way to address out develop-mental challenges and to the benefit of our people isimportant. In this spirit, he expressed Eritreas readi-ness to share its policies, actions and experiencesregarding the issues.

    Moreover, Ambassador Girma underlined that on theissue of governance of natural resources and industri-alization, it is important not to forget the developmentof human capital, short of which capacity buildingand transfer of technology and natural resourceswould not be realized and industrialization takingroot.

    In this regard, he explained that the Eritrean Govern-ment has devoted the lions share of its budget to ed-ucation and development of technical skills, thus

    providing free basic social services, particularly inthe education and health sectors.

    Ambassador Fessahazion Petros presents credentials to IFAD President

    On the 12 th of December 2014, the Eritrean Am- bassador to Italy, H.E. Fessahazion Petros pre-sented his credentials to the President of Interna-

    tional Fund for Agricultural Development(IFAD), Mr. KanayoF. Nwanze, as Eri-treas PermanentRepresentative to theorganization.

    During the presenta-tion ceremony inIFADs central office

    in Rome, the Ambassador conveyed warm greetingsand message of goodwill from the People andGovernment of Eritrea and expressed Eritreas readi-

    ness to enhance cooperation with the organization inefforts to realize its food security programs.

    Commending Eritreas development endeavors, theIFAD President voiced the organizations readinessto demonstrate the necessary collaboration withEritreas efforts in agricultural activities in generaland that of attaining food security in particular.
