In 1995 Count Francesco Marone Cinzano, the owner of the Col d’Orcia estate in Montalcino, Italy, decided to expand his production of fine wines to Chile, where he felt there was immense potential for production of world-class wines.

The vision of Erasmo took Count Cinzano and longtime consultant Maurizio Castelli to the Central Valley of Chile, where they finally decided upon the area of “Reserva de Caliboro” in the Maule Valley with its gently sloping alluvial terraces, intense sunlight, dry southerly winds and optimal rainfall.

The highest quality French grape clones were specially imported to Chile for this project and six years were spent perfecting vineyard location, soil analysis, and winemaking techniques.

The result of this intense commitment and dedication is Erasmo, a unique Chilean wine that follows in the footsteps of the Cinzano family’s longstanding tradition of winemaking excellence and innovation.

At Erasmo, biodynamic practices are now embraced. From natural composting to cover crops to a lack of chemical use, a total natural approach is taken.
