What are the areas you are focusing on? The major concern of the industry is lack of practical and working knowledge of students coming from B-schools. Mere bookish knowledge is insufficient for a student to work in challenging business environment where survival is of the fittest. With this in mind, regular interaction with industry is maintained. Q2: What is the teaching methodology applied in ERA Business School? How is it different from conventional teaching methods? The teaching methodology adopted at EBS is based on optimum use of technology, research and experiential learning. The students have the entire Dr. Sanjiv Marwah is the Director of Era Business School. He has been the Dean of Management and Director of Business School at MM University and Director of JK Institute of Management. He has lead NBA accreditation of the University Business School under his leadership. Dr. Sanjiv Marwah has over two decades of industry and teaching experience. He is an MBA and also PhD in the area of customer relationship in management. He is an expert in the area of Strategic Management and Customer Retention. He has authored many articles, published and presented Research papers in various National and International conferences. He is a member of Strategic Management Forum, an IIM consortium supported organization. He has conducted many international Management Development Programme(s) for the academicians and corporate executives. Dr. Marwah has been closely associated with Lincolnshire and Humberside University, U.K., Thames Valley University, U.K., Singapore Management University, Kathmandu School of Management and Philadelphia University, USA. He is the founder Editor of “MM University Journal of Management Practices”, a refereed journal published by MM University. He has published a course book for AIMA and MMU on ‘Research Methodology’ and text book on ‘Project Management’. course plan and presentations readily available in the EBS Blackboard (based on ERP), at the beginning of the trimester itself, giving session wise plan of the topics, books & references, besides the schedule of the assessment process. It enables the students to be well prepared for the discussion when they come to the classroom which enhances the quality of learning and participation in the class. The Time table itself is designed in a way that almost all post lunch sessions are developmental & participative in nature. In a nutshell EBS believes in a holistic approach to bring out the best in every student Q3: What gives a student of ERA Business School an edge over other Private Business Schools and also Government-run Business schools? Beginning with the selection process the students are continuously in touch with the faculty. This facilitates them to develop a great deal of confidence and self –belief. The student can study any combination of subjects, since business cannot be very strictly compartmentalised. This is unique to EBS and stems from the belief that there should be enough scope for students to add to their domain awareness. The concept of BEYOND THE CLASS ROOM is unique and facilitates students to participate in various activities such, as CSR, various clubs and committees etc. Extensive use of technology and specially designed developmental activities to eliminate short comings and reinforce the strength areas, make students of EBS better employable, which is evident from the placements. Q4: How are the opportunities available from an Industry-anchored Business School different from a University anchored Business School? Industry anchored Business Schools are certainly different in terms of opportunities available to them in comparison to the University Business school. Beginning with curriculum, they have the flexibility to design contemporary and most desirable inputs. In the case of the University Business Schools, any change in the curriculum is time consuming and long drawn. Tie up/ linkages with Foreign Schools are easier for Private B schools. Hiring of industry based expert faculty for short duration courses is easier for these B-Schools due to strong industry interface. Flexibility of Internship and final joining dates is available to Private B-Schools, where as it is a challenge for the University B-Schools. Q5: What are the placement opportunities available after a two- year Diploma course at ERA Business School? Are there any international placements available? EBS has a good track record of getting the batch placed to their satisfaction. Being Industry anchored the networking with the Industry is quite good. Practically every student manages atleast two offers and some of the bright ones manage three also. This year almost over 100 companies visited the campus. Some of the recruiters include-Citi Bank; American Express; India Bulls; Axis Bank ; IndusIand Bank; ICICI Securities; ERA Group ; Laurent &Benon; MPG Group; Genpact; Cvent; Xerox; Nestle; EMAAR-MGF; HT Shine; Parle; Tech Mahindra; Perinod-Ricard and their likes. It’s not far when students will be joining companies abroad too. Also the first year students have been picked up for summer internships with decent stipends in a wide cross section of companies in and around Delhi – NCR.
