Equipment We Plan On Using

Page 2: Equipment presentation

Main CameraThis is the main camera that my partner and I will be using when it comes to the filming of our film trailer. It is a DSLR camera, and is a Canon EOS 600D. It is owned by my partner Rhiannon. This camera provides a range of different features, however, due to the nature and story line of our film trailer, we only need its basic use; and this is to film. We are both confident in using this camera, as it has a high quality, which will hopefully mean that all of our footage taken on this camera, will appear crisp and as a clear as it can be in high definition.

It is easy enough to operate, although there have been a few time where we have had to ask an expert on cameras to show us what other possibilities there are when filming. This is all very helpful to us as it helps us to learn on the job. Not only will we be using this camera, but my partner Rhiannon has also got a tripod which we will be regularly using, and various lenses which we may like to play around with, to see which one gives the best effect when used in a horror genre. The tripod will be very useful as it will help us to keep the camera steady, to make it look as if it were an even more professional camera, also because we will be filming outside a lot of the time.

Video Camera (Hand Held Effect)This is the second camera of our equipment which we will be using to film. It is a much smaller, more compact camera, which has been specifically designed for videoing, often used when people go on holiday. Fortunately, this is my camera, which means that combined with Rhiannon's Canon, we should be able to get a good variety of different high quality footage, which we can collect on our own cameras. This is the camera which I had used for my first AS filming project. From this experience, it has allowed me to discover different features of the recorder so that I now know how to effectively use it to my benefit. Not only will this camera help us to get a range of different shots, it is also one of the most important props within our film trailer. Our film is about students trying to collect evidence to give to the police about the disappearances of their friends. Therefore, it made sense that the trailer would include a hand held effect to make the story line believable.

As it is my camera, and I know how best to work it, it is me who will be recording all of the hand held footage, so my character is not actually seen much. Furthermore, by using this camera, it will hopefully create the atmosphere that we want, as the conventions of the horror films we most want ours to be like, uses a hand held video recorder much like this.
