Equipment Interface Module Training

EIM Module Basics

• Reasons to use EIM Modules:

1.)Not enough wires to thermostat or want to use wireless thermostat.

2.)Want to monitor system through honeywell

3.)Installing a humidifier, ventilator, dehumidifier

4.)Use of dry contacts for alarms, alerts, unit protection.

EIM Module Mounting Locations

• 1.)Mounting EIM Module on horizontal applications can be accomplished by mounting to supply or return air plenums.

• 2.)Mounting EIM Module on vertical applications can be accomplished by mounting to supply ductwork or walls in closet.

• 3.)Mounting EIM Module on package units can be accomplished by installing anywhere inside unit where water can not enter. Examples: mount on splitter inside, interior wall, heat strip compartment.

EIM Module Wiring

• 1.) If wiring 24 volts to thermostat Red and Common to be connected at R and C at the (TO THERMOSTAT) terminals on EIM Module.

• 2.)Wiring to equipment is standard connections: example Y to Y, G to G on EIM Module terminals.

• 3.) Wiring of discharge sensor to go to S2 terminals on EIM Module, note does not matter which wire goes to which.

EIM Module Wiring Cont

• 4.) Wiring of return air sensor to be connected to S1 terminals on EIM Module, note does not matter what wire goes to which terminal.

• 5.)Wiring of condensate safety switch must be connected to the S3 terminals, again does not matter which wires.

• 6.)Wiring of drain pan sensor (optional) must be connected to S4 terminals for normally closed circuit, and 24 volts to Red and Common

Programming Redlink for EIM Module

• 1.)Follow instructions that come up on screen when new thermostat is first installed or reset to factory default settings then follow instructions.

• 2.)Go through thermostat until thermostat reads:T-Stat Controls an Equip Module:NO switch using arrow keys to yes. Next hit yes then next says to press connect at EIM Module. Press connect and wait to see green LED start flashing then go to thermostat and hit next. Should say connecting, once connected thermostat will say connected, hit next and you have now linked thermostat to Module.

Programming Continued

• 3.)Next screen on thermostat says connect redlink devices, this is where you connect all wireless devices.

• 4.)Continue through set up until thermostat says:Wired Sensor on S terminals:no. Switch to yes using arrow keys and hit next.

• 5.)Next screen asks if wired remote indoor sensor:no leave at no these are not remote indoor sensors.

Programming Continued

• 6.)Next screen says:Wired Return Sensor:no switch to yes and hit next.

• 7.)Next screen says:Return Sensor eim terminal S1. Verify that you return sensor is wired to the S1 terminals on EIM Module.

• 8.)Next screen: Return Sensor type:10k, all wired sensors from honeywell are 10k just hit next.

Programming Continued

• 9.)Next screen:Wired Discharge Sensor:no switch to yes with arrow keys and hit next, the next screen asks if Discharge sensor wired to S2 terminals, verify wired correctly and hit next. It will then ask if 10k sensor hit next again.

• 10.)Next screen says: A-Coil low temp cutoff:off switch to 35degree with arrow keys and hit next.

Programming Continued

• 11.)Next screen: Dry Contact Device On S terminals: no switch to yes and hit next.

• 12.)Go through installers set-up until you get to screen that says Water Leak Dry Contact alert: no switch to yes and hit next.

• 13.)Next screen: Water Leak alert eim Terminal S3 switch to S4 and hit next. Next : Water leak alert is normally open switch to normally closed hit next.

Programming Continued

• 14.)Next screen on install setup is: Sys Shutdown Dry Contact Alert:no switch to yes and hit next. Next says :Shutdown alert eim terminal S3 hit next. Finally asks shutdown alert is normally open switch to normally closed.

• 15.)Verify Dealer information is already installed, if not install information manually.

EIM Module Overview

1.)Wiring from thermostat to EIM Module is Red and common to thermostat terminals on EIM Module.

2.)Low voltage wiring to equipment is standard to equipment and standard connections on EIM Module terminals.

3.)Return air sensor to be connected EIM Module S1 terminals and is a 10k sensor.

EIM Module Overview Cont

4.)Discharge air sensor to be connected at S2 terminals on EIM Module, is 10k sensor, and set shut off at 35 degrees.

5.)Condensate safety switch to be wired to S3 terminals on EIM Module, needs to be set as shutdown device.

6.)Optional drain pan sensor to be wired to S4 terminals on EIM Module, needs to be set as leak detected.

7.)Verify dealer information is correctly installed in thermostat, if not input manually to thermostat.

IMPORTANT:

Must verify safety devices work and that the condensate safety switch shuts down Equipment.
