Fb.m. s.r.l. is able to provide “Turn Key” services, focused on equipment efficiency and structural controls, where, using advanced technology in the context of the non-de-structive testing, we are able to establish the equipment residual life and identify the necessary activities to restore the initially designed condition and its re-starting.

After achieving important and essential certifications in the Oil&Gas industry in the field of control activities, in a few years our team has become one of the main Italian companies operating in the most important Petrochemical plants in Italy, such as:Sannazzaro de Burgondi, Porto Marghera, Ravenna, Porto Torres, Sarroch, Viggiano, Gela, Milazzo, Brindisi, Taranto

Our team is able to provide the most sophisticated services in the field of industry plants inspection and into non-Destructive Controls, adding on the traditional checks (radiogram-matic, ultrasound, magnetoscopisc, and so on) also thermographic, videoendoscopic, digital radiographic and the analysis of materials, always operating at high quality level with techni-cians trained and qualified according to the norms UNI EN ISO 9712 and ASNT

|| In order to better describe the activities our team has carried out, you can find further below some examples of non-De-structive Checks:

Xr & Gammar Radiography The radiographic investigation with XR and gamma applian-ces is used for welding, casting and up to 500mm forged products and the control is performed with maximum 300kV voltage, either directional or panoramic. The gamma rays control is performed by SE75 and IT132 sources. The radio-graphs results are returned on radiographic Kodak and Agfa films of different format and quality, to meet all customers’ requirements.

UltrasoundsUltrasound controls are used to measure the thickness and to search defects, using appliances of the latest technology, equipped with probes of various sizes and frequencies.Scans on different thicknesses can be easily performed with the possibility to control also painted surfaces, even at high temperature up to 500°C.In addition to feelers gauges on molten, forged and welded products, also defect-detector equipment with representa-tion of the signals A-scans and B-scans are used, to detect and size flaws in the various components.

Leakage TestThe leakage test consists of a seal test or detection, carried out on lines and welds to identify any leaks. High sensitivity foaming detectors can be used in areas at risk.On equipment where it is not necessary to create a pressure difference (for example methane lines), foam is sprayed directly and the possible bubbling is observed; also, to create a pressure difference, it can be used a Vacuum Box, which consists of a series of transparent boxes with gaskets that adhere by vacuum to the workpiece (for example the bottom of the tank).The boxes are connected to a vacuum pump to create a depression and a manometer is installed on it to check that the minimum pressure difference condition necessary for the control is reached.

VideoendoscopyIt is possible to make visual inspections using boroscopes, videoendoscopes and fiberscopes with heads of different dimensions and lengths, to match the different customer’s needs and inspect internally also components with compli-cated accessibility.Our systems are equipped with acquisition system and vi-deo recording fo r the control test storage.

Acoustic EmissionsAcoustic Emissions are a non-destructive control method which allows to detect and locate faults and leaks on tank bottoms, without stopping the operations.Acoustic Emissions give information on the physical integrity and on the stability of the inspected structure, using a clas-sical principal to detect and localize defects and losses insi-de all the structure.

Thermography• The control of the infrared thermocamera, is widely used

in the industrial and building sectors, in particular for the control on the spot of reinforced concrete structures and walls in general, insulations, such as:

• Control of operating burner kilns with short-range ther-mocamera for the checking of the correct functioning;

• Electrical switchboards, motors and electrical compo-nents in general;

• Industrial insulation equipment (tanks, lines);• Refractory material (kilns)

The controls are carried out by means of FLIR thermocameras with a resolution from 320X240 and over, to get the maximum definition and cover a wide range of products to check

Positive Material Identification (Pmi)Through the portable XRF analyzers of OXFORD Series X-MET , we can provide the chemical analysis of ferrous alloys, using spectrometric techniques with fluorescence of X-rays.The control can be done directly on-site or in our plants, accor-ding to the customer’s requirements and in complete safety.The management software allows the emission of the test re-port with the related certificate in a very short time. In addition, the spectrometry enables to analyze the alloys and calculate the percentage of equivalent carbon by means of the Spectro Argon analyzer.

Robotic Thickness Measurement The robotic thickness measurement is a ultrasound thick-ness-metric control system continuously carried out, by using a robot/crawler.The crawler/brick is a light and sturdy system, designed to perform a fast and reliable tank thickness control.The scanner can be from 70mm high and can work even on convex and concave surfaces, with a diameter of 2 meters which enables the use on AST, towers, spheres, both interior and exterior surfaces.The robot is equipped with 4 drive wheels that allow it to ea-sily exceed the weld seams; its use is also valid on studded tanks up to 12mm thick.

Floorscan ( Scattered Magnetic Flux) The bottom of a vertical atmospheric storage tank may have corrosive problems which could lead to the unwanted release of polluting materials in the soil. In case a barrel is already open and drained, the floorscan control allows to make an objective assessment of the state of the bottom plates and to indicate in a precise and verifiable way areas to restore or replace.Starting from the inspection activities, according to the ordi-nary control planning of the equipment maintenance manuals, we are able to give all the engineering activities starting from the calculation of the residual maturity to the upgrading of the equipment itself, with all technical documentation and authori-zation necessary for commissioning equipment operation and eventually, release the necessary certifications through a Cer-tification Authority.
