1.0 Background to the Proposal

ISPe is pleased to put forward a proposal for MBA (Coal Management) and Certified Coal
Manager Program under it’s EQUIP arrangement for employees of Costal Fuel Pvt. Ltd.
This MBA course will be administered by the Indian School of Petroleum & Energy, with the
degree certifications being awarded by the University of Petroleum & Energy Studies.
Whereas the Certified Coal Manager program will administered by the Indian School of
Petroleum & Energy and certification will also be of ISPe’s.
The programs are designed as study program involving minimum-stipulated hours of self-
study as well as instructor-led teaching in the form of contact classes.

2.0 Program Objectives and Deliverables Defined
Program Objectives:
1. To develop the education curriculum for the pre-selected officers of Coastal Fuel
Pvt. Ltd., leading to an award of degree in the MBA program and ISPe certification
in the Certified Program.
2. To conduct such education courses and to develop a talent pool of such
appropriately qualified personnel.
Program Deliverables:
Design, develop and conduct, curriculum for pre-selected officers of Coastal Fuel
Pvt. Ltd., for their educational qualifications enhancement and capacity building
Developing and training such nominated professionals through enhancement of
knowledge and skills.
A Graduate / Post Graduate Degree / Diploma Certification for each personnel
on successful completion of the MBA courses, from University of Petroleum &
Energy Studies; a university fully approved by UGC under section 2 (f) of UGC
Act 1956, to award degrees.
A certification from Indian School of Petroleum & Energy (ISPe) for each
personnel on successful completion of the Certified Coal Manager program.

Program Title: MBA (Coal Management)
Target Group: Pre selected Employees from Coastal Fuel Pvt. Ltd. holding a Graduation Degree. Such candidates must have minimum 60 % marks in aggregate in their Graduation program.
Objective: To enhance their educational qualifications to graduate specialization, to enable them to move to executive cadre and thereby creating a professional growth channel.
Minimum Batch Size: 30 pre-selected candidates from Coastal Fuel Pvt. Limited
Program Duration: 2 Years divided into 4 Semesters.
Location: Classroom teaching and examinations at a training venue provided
by Coastal Fuel Pvt. Ltd.
Teaching Methodology: Through Work Integrated Learning Methodology (WILM) – which
combines Classroom Teaching, together with self-study and
experiential learning.
Hours of Study: WILM will involve 2 Weeks (10 days) of Classroom Teaching per
semester which translates into 80 hours (@ 8 hours per day) of
instructor-led teaching per semester.
Self Study will be 180 hours (minimum) per semester (@ 1 Hour /
Day), organized through structured learning modules provided to
candidates by ISPe.
TOTAL STUDY HOURS IN A SEMESTER: 80+180 = 260

Target Group: High Performer officers from coastal fuel Pvt. Ltd. identified as star performers in their functions.
Objective: To equip their educational qualifications with specific industry insights with special focus on the upstream sector in order to enhance business skills and competitive spirit.
Minimum Batch Size: Minimum 30 (Thirty) pre-selected candidates
Program Duration: 1 Year divided into 4 modules.
Place of Training: On Site (At a training venue provided by Coastal Fuel Pvt. Ltd.)
Teaching Methodology: Work Integrated Learning Methodology which combines
Classroom teaching with disciplined and monitored self-study.
Hours of Study: WILM will be broken up into 4 Contact Programs of 1 week (5 Days) each spread over a year. These shall include instructor-led Classroom teaching followed by a structured home assignments and module end examination on the topics covered in the module.
Each of the four modules will cover 5 topics each, which have been carefully chosen with
the objective to impart knowledge on practical & core principles of Coal trading, Logistics
and supply chain management with emphasis on Energy technology and management, to
the participants with an objective to significantly enhance their knowledge and skills in the
intended areas and make them feel more confident and at par with their peers who have
gone through formal technical education in these areas. The Inherent design &
effectiveness of the Instructor led classroom teaching is based on suggested minimum Self
Study hours per teaching model.

Degree with cumulative grade point average will be awarded to all successful candidates by
University of Petroleum & Energy Studies.
FOR CERTIFICATION PROGRAM:
Grade Cards with grade point average will be awarded to all successful candidates.
A certification will be awarded to all successful candidates by Indian School of Petroleum &
Energy.

Our academic partners are the “University of Petroleum & Energy Studies” (UPES), with
its main campus located at Dehradun in Uttaranchal with state-of-art facilities providing

power technology and management.
UPES has over 200 experienced faculty on its staff who have behind them, considerable
experience of the energy sector as well as strong academic credentials from IIT and IIM
level institutions of the country. These faculty members are also available to ISPe for
providing intellectual inputs in research, consultancy and training projects delivered by
ISPe.
The School has on its Advisory Board, eminent professional and accomplished experts
from diverse areas of the petroleum operations such as Exploration, Refining,

chaired by Mr. B.D.Gupta, former President JM Morgan Stanley and Former Director,
Indian Oil Corporation and has practicing CEOs and Managing Directors from companies
like Reliance Petroleum, Petronet LNG, Indian Oil Tanking, British Gas, as its members.
The academic affairs are supervised by the Board of Studies, which is chaired by Dr.
S.J.Chopra, Chancellor, University of Petroleum & Energy Studies & former Executive
Director, Center for High Technology, Ministry of Petroleum, Government of India.
Dr. Parag Diwan, Mr. Sanjay Kaul and Mr. Arun Jyoti, Directors, Indian School of
Petroleum lead the professional management team of the school.

UPES has been established by an Act of the State Government of Uttaranchal, which has
been passed by the Uttaranchal Legislative Assembly and assented to by the Governor.
The University is dedicated exclusively for Petroleum and Energy Studies and it is its
vision to become a premier institute providing world class education, training, research,
consultancy and outreach services in the entire spectrum of petroleum and power and its
allied sectors.
It has been accredited by the Energy Institute London. It has faculty strength of more than
200 distinguished professors and around 5000 students.
UPES runs various Engineering and Management oriented courses dedicated to the Oil &
Gas sector such as MBA (Oil & Gas Management), MBA (Upstream Asset Management),
M.Tech (Petro-Informatics), M.Tech (Pipeline Engineering), B. Tech. (Gas Engineering),
B.Tech (Petrochemical Engineering), B. Sc. (Plant Maintenance), B.Sc. (Petroleum
Operations and Management)
8.0 The Quality of the Learning Experience
Indian School of Petroleum & Energy has conducted Certification, diploma and degree
programs for various companies related to the hydrocarbon sector. Some of them being
names like PTTEP, Thailand, Cairn Energy, Shell Hazira LNG Pvt. Ltd., ONGC, OIL India Ltd,
IOCL, Assam Gas Company Ltd etc. All the programs offered by ISPe are designed according
to the present scenario and after interacting extensively with prospective participants to
understand their expectations and provide a broad understanding of the Expected
Outcomes of the Training. Through these interactions the management has attempted to

structure the training in such a way that the participants can understand the various
linkages of this multidisciplinary industry.
"Learning outcomes," encompass a wide range of attributes and abilities, both cognitive
and affective. Cognitive outcomes include demonstrable acquisition of specific knowledge
and skills, Affective outcomes impact professional values, goals, attitudes, self-concepts,
world views, and behaviors.
There are essentially three threads which must be interwoven into a program dedicated to
the improvement of learning: shifting curricular focus to student learning; developing
faculty as effective teachers; and the integration of assessment into curriculum at several
levels.

The Coastal Fuel Pvt. Limited will be responsible for:
1. Provision of venue for contact classes.
2. Provision of Training Facilities & Aids (audio & visual), including hospitality.
3. Travel cost of ISPe faculties and program coordinator.
4. Local Travel cost and cost pertaining to Airport transfer (from place of origin
to venue and back) for faculty and program coordinator.
5. Boarding & lodging for ISPe faculties & program coordinator.
6. Cost pertaining to travel, boarding & lodging of participants, if it applies.
7. Provision for all meals for ISPe faculties and program coordinator.
Indian School of Petroleum & Energy will be responsible for:
1. Development & Distribution of course materials.
2. Provision of teaching faculties.
3. Conduct of contact classes as per pre-arranged schedule.
4. Evaluations & Examinations.
5. Degree Certification through UPES
6. Certification from ISPe

The Training fees for EQUIP Programs to be offered to Caoastal Fuel Pvt. Ltd.
is considered with minimum batch size of 30 participants.
Fees per participant per semester for the MBA programs is as given
below:
MBA (Coal Management): INR 60, 000/-
Fees per participant for the Certified Coal Manager programs is as given
below:

Travel Costs of the Faculties and program coordinator.
Provision of venue for Contact Classes.
Arrangement of stay & hospitality (boarding & lodging) of ISPe Faculty &
program coordinator.
Arrangement of local travel facilities including Airport transfer (from the place
of origin to venue and back) for ISPe faculty and staff.
Cost pertaining to travel, boarding & lodging of participants, if it applies.
All applicable levies and taxes will be charged extra at actual.
Payment Terms:
The training fees for the particular academic year will be released to ISPe as
advance prior to commencement of every academic year.
The training fees for first year for the program will be released to ISPe as
advance along with the LOI / PO to conduct the program.
50% of the training fee for the Certified Coal Manager program will be released
to ISPe as advance along with the LOI.
Balance 50% prior to the start of the 4th Module.
All the reimbursement will be released to ISPe within 15 days of receipt of
invoice.
Current Fee structure will remain valid for a period of One (1) month of issue of
the proposal, as this is a special pricing for Coastal Fuel Pvt. Ltd.
