SAFETY

SAFETY STARTS WITH YOU. Safety or driver assistance features are no substitute for the driver’s responsibility to operate the vehicle in a safe manner. The driver should remain attentive to traffic, surroundings and road conditions at all times. Visibility, weather and road conditions may affect feature performance. Read the vehicle Owner’s Manual for more important feature limitations and information.

AVAILABLE ADVANCED SAFETY TECHNOLOGY HELPS YOU COVER THE ANGLES.

ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL – CAMERA. Available on Premier, this feature uses a forward-looking camera and can automatically adapt your cruise control speed in order to maintain a driver selected following gap to vehicles detected ahead while you steer, reducing the need for the driver to frequently brake and accelerate.

FRONT PEDESTRIAN BRAKING. If the system detects that a pedestrian is directly ahead and a collision is imminent, and the driver has not already applied the brakes, the system alerts the driver and may even automatically apply the brakes to help the driver avoid or reduce the harm caused by the collision. Performance is limited at night. Available on Premier.

LOW SPEED FORWARD AUTOMATIC BRAKING. If the vehicle is travelling at a low speed and the system detects that a front-end collision situation is imminent while following a detected vehicle and the driver has not already applied the brakes, the system can automatically apply the brakes to help reduce the collision’s severity. The system may even help avoid a collision at very low speeds. Available on Premier.

FORWARD COLLISION ALERT. This available feature is designed to monitor how close your vehicle is to a detected vehicle in front of you. If the system determines that a front-end collision with a detected vehicle is imminent, it is designed to alert the driver to a potential crash. It can also warn the driver if their Equinox is following a detected vehicle much too closely.

INTELLIBEAM HEADLAMPS. When oncoming headlamps are sensed or when tail lamps are detected in front of the vehicle, the available IntelliBeam® high beam assist intuitively adjusts between low and high beams.

LANE KEEP ASSIST WITH LANE DEPARTURE WARNING. This camera-based system monitors road lines and can provide gentle steering wheel turns (and Lane Departure Warning alerts if necessary) to help drivers avoid unintentionally drifting out of their detected lane when they are not actively steering and their turn signal is not activated. Available on Premier.

AVAILABLE LANE CHANGE ALERT WITH SIDE BLIND ZONE ALERT. Radar sensors in the rear corners of the vehicle are designed to help detect fast-approaching vehicles in the adjacent lanes as well as moving vehicles in the side mirror blind zones. Amber icons in the exterior mirrors indicate a vehicle’s presence.

REAR VISION CAMERA. When the transmission is in Reverse, the Rear Vision Camera with dynamic guiding lines allows the driver to view objects directly behind the vehicle via the screen in the centre stack. So it’s easier to back up or park.

REAR PARK ASSIST. This feature is designed to alert the driver, when in Reverse, by sounding an audible alert and providing visual indication on the Rear Vision Camera display when it detects certain stationary objects in close proximity behind the vehicle. Standard on Premier, available on LT.

REAR CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT. Using radar sensors, this available feature is designed to alert the driver to crossing traffic behind Equinox when in Reverse. Audible warnings, as well as visual alerts on the Rear Vision Camera screen, are triggered if approaching vehicles are detected. Standard on Premier, available on LT.

HD SURROUND VISION. Available on Premier, this feature can help you parallel park and manoeuvre at low speeds into tight garage spaces with ease. HD Surround Vision gives you a virtual bird’s-eye view of your Equinox on the 8-in. diagonal colour touch-screen. The system is made up of four high-definition cameras — a Rear Vision Camera, a forward-looking camera in the front grille and one under each side mirror of the vehicle. All camera viewpoints simultaneously merge to transmit a clear side-by-side digital image to the display screen, helping you to see the areas behind or in front and around you. Several additional views are also available.

SAFETY ALERT SEAT. This available seat uses directional vibration pulses from the driver seat cushion instead of audible crash avoidance alerts to help indicate the direction of potential collision threats. This patented warning approach is tied into other available onboard crash avoidance systems.

1.5L TURBO ENGINE. This turbocharged 4-cylinder engine uses the technologies of Continuously Variable Valve Timing and Direct Injection to deliver responsive performance with unexpected efficiency. It puts 170 horsepower at your command, along with 203 lb.-ft. of torque.

STOP/START ENGINE TECHNOLOGY. Standard on every Equinox, this fuel-saving technology automatically shuts down the engine as you come to a stop under certain driving conditions, such as at a stoplight. The engine seamlessly restarts when you take your foot off the brake.

CAPLESS FUEL SYSTEM. An ingenious capless fuel system is something you’ll appreciate every time you fill up. Behind the fuel-filler door, a small spring-loaded door replaces the traditional screw-on gas cap. Included on Equinox models with 1.5L and 2.0L engines only.

SWITCHABLE ALL-WHEEL DRIVE (AWD). This system, standard on Premier and available on LS and LT, helps enhance traction and control on slippery or snow-covered roads. Conveniently, you can leave switchable AWD on year-round, since the rear wheels only engage when

the system senses reduced traction. In FWD mode, the system disengages AWD components for greater fuel efficiency.

2.0L TURBO ENGINE. The available 252-horsepower 2.0L turbocharged engine takes performance to an even higher level. The turbocharger generates up to 138 kPa (20 psi) of boost for the torque you’d normally expect from a larger-displacement engine.

9-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. Available exclusively with the 2.0L turbocharged engine, the highly advanced

9-speed automatic is designed to help keep the engine operating at near peak efficiency. Shifts are smooth and precise due to the advanced controls and small ratio steps.
