victim to the disaster and destruction of Hurricane Michael in October 2018.

Special OlympicsOn May 30th, our volunteers spent their day with Special Olympics Pennsylvania setting up for the Inter-Scholastic Unified Soccer Championships at George Washington High School in Philadelphia. While there, the team also served lunch and ensured participants enjoyed their day, win or lose.

University City Hospitality CoalitionWith over thirty years of service to the homeless and hungry in University City, Philadelphia, the University City Hospitality Coalition came together in 1984 to “confront the bleak and tragic realities of homelessness in their own community.” Funded solely by donations, UCHC encourages volunteers to donate gifts of food or assist at a meal among other acts of kindness. Our CBI CARES team was able to deliver 330 “meals of hospitality” throughout the summer, which included sandwiches, snacks and other goodies, to feed UCHC’s Saturday guests.

WCU Catholic Newman Student Association In November, CBI CARES partnered with the West Chester University Catholic Newman Student Association in their efforts to provide Thanksgiving dinners to local families in need. The food drive benefited two major distributors of food for the needy: St. Agnes Day Room and Project One, which serve families affected by HIV / AIDS in Chester County. Our team collected all the fixings needed to make several thanksgiving meals.

Phoenixville Area Community ServicesThrough a company-wide food drive, CBI CARES was able to donate an assortment of food and grocery items, as well as make a monetary contribution to Phoenixville Area Community Services’ Emergency Pantry. Contributions like this equip PACS with the ability to continue its mission to end poverty in its community by connecting people in need with resources for food security, financial stability and better health.

Providence Animal Center Providence Animal Center, located in Media, PA, is devoted to rescue, treatment, care, protection and placement of companion animals. Creative Benefits sponsored their largest fundraising event, Bark in the Park, in October and CBI CARES volunteered to assist with registration and walk dogs in need of loving home.

Scranton Primary Health Care CenterWe collected over 150 children’s books, written in English and Spanish, to benefit Scranton Primary Health Care’s ‘Reach Out and Read’ Program. With the intention of nurturing the well-being of all persons, the ‘Reach Out and Read’ program grants every child the opportunity to take home a free book after receiving service at Scranton Primary’s facility – ultimately expanding the minds of every child and promoting a love for learning.
