What kind of institution might distribute your media product and

why?

Baby Grande RecordsBaby Grande Records is a record label, which focuses on underground rappers. It is also well known for being a modern up to date company, which supports artists with a unique style. The company was founded in 2001 and since then has focused on Hip-Hop, Indie Rock, EDM and everything in between. Baby Grande Records, has published over 3000 albums, music videos and online content.This company would be very suitable, as my magazine could be part of an expansion program of the business, making it horizontally and vertically integrated.As the company is very modern, the marketing campaign for the product would be very much online. Using web 2.0 as a free alternative to advertise for my magazine, would be the most effective way of gaining consumer awareness. The institution could use a lot of below the line marketing, to minimize costs for the product, and maximize sales. Especially with the target audience being under the age of forty, almost every person in this range owns a converged device, which allows them to use the internet wherever they are. Also seeing as the label often covers very niche genre, my magazine which portrays niche artists, which dislike the sort of mainstream hip- hop would suit the company very well.This shows that using Web 2.0 to market my product would be the most effective way to have an impact on the potential consumers.As my magazine also supports the same kind of music style, as well as supporting underground rappers, the company could use synerged marketing. This would enable the music from the label to advertise the magazine, and vise versa, so that the magazine advertises for the record label.

Other Possible Institutions

The Bauer Media Group is a company which publishes magazines that vary from housing magazines, to car and fitness magazines. This company could also be very suitable for my product, as they don’t yet publish a music magazine which specializes in rap and hip-hop.

Inerscope Records is a record label which represents some of the most famous rappers in the world. The company is huge, and seems to be very successful, which would make it a great opportunity for my magazine to be published by the company. Like Baby Grande records, I believe that it would be a good idea for big labels to bring out a magazine as well, which can visually represent the kind of music which the record label supports.

Still I believe that Baby Grande Record would be the best institution to publish my magazine, due to their great reputation, and the fact that my magazine is very closely aligned with the music style of the label.
