This company was started in 1965 by Eric Woolley, primarily specialising in television and radio servicing. During the 1980s, Mr Woolley was increasingly asked by the larger burglar alarm companies in Sydney to install and service alarms on the South Coast. This side of the business continued to grow until in 1988, EPW Security was born to service the customers of the South Coast who had become increasingly disenchanted with the lack of customer service from the larger companies. Mr Woolley has always maintained that the customer is king and in security they deserve and should expect the very highest of standards in installation and servicing. In 1991, Mr Woolley’s son Steven joined the company to help manage the twin components of alarm installation and alarm monitoring. In 2000, EPW Security moved from the family home to its current location in the centre of Nowra, to provide for a larger purpose built control room, dedicated workshop for alarm panel servicing. The company continues to install and service residential and commercial alarm systems as well as temperature controls on mortuaries, flow controls on pumping systems and dedicated medical alarm systems for the elderly or disabled. The underlying theme of the company is that it is a family company looking after families. EPW services alarm systems from Sydney to Bega, out to Cootamundra, Canberra, Bowral and through to Muswellbrook. The company recently outsourced the control room monitoring and the staff now look forward to returning to their roots in alarm system installation and maintenance. The company was renowned for having the largest, privately owned monitoring control room between Sydney and Melbourne. However, the increasing cost of alarm monitoring, and a desire to return to their roots has seen the team outsource monitoring. “Now we can go back to the work we started with a focus on customer service and looking after alarm systems,” technician Steven Woolley said. “That’s what we want to do.” The team can provide security systems, panic systems, temperature alarms and more. “We do all sorts of weird and wonderful stuff,” Steven said. “But we are getting back to the electronic side of things, which we like.” EPW Security consists of founder and technician Eric Woolley, son and fellow technician Steven Woolley, technician Chris Hefferan and office manager Helen McGuire. Steven and Eric Woolley inspect some electronics up close. CONTROL systems can be used for many different situations. A few types include thermostats in mortuary cool rooms or cheese factories, flow control valves in fluid control systems and smoke alarm systems.
