BUILDING CONSTRUCTION TIMETABLE Unfortunately, our school has been advised that the start of construction of our new building has been postponed until October. However, the good news is that the start of construction of our new synthetic surface playground will begin shortly. Our school is already putting in plans to ensure that our students, staff and community members are safe throughout the building phase. One of these plans involves our morning assemblies on Monday and Friday. As the Pavilion Playground will be part of the construction site, we are moving these assemblies to the North Playground. The students practised this last Friday and now know where they need to line up. Regrettably, the new area for morning assemblies does have access issues as entry and exit points are narrower than the whole playground access we had to the Pavilion. I ask parents who bring their children to school on those days to be mindful of this when dropping their children off and ensure that all accesses are left clear.

THURSDAY MORNING MEETING Last Thursday morning I had the privilege to speak to a great many Epping Public School parents who came and enjoyed the hospitality of our P&C. The purpose of the morning was to connect our school community and allowed parents to meet, share a cuppa (plus some yummy cakes) and find out about what had happened in our school over the last month. We talked about the diverse activities our students had participated in such as debating, zone sporting competitions and ICAS competitions.

We also talked about the progress of our new building and the installation of our brand new synthetic surface playground. Parents were updated about the safety measures the staff is

putting into place to ensure the safety of our whole school community and asked questions related to the future plans for our school. It was an excellent meeting in terms of communication between the school and the parents and bringing our school community together. Many thanks to the P&C for organising and catering for the meeting and I look forward to the next meeting in Term 3.

INFORMATION SESSIONS Just a reminder that the Strategic Direction 3 team will be presenting a Parent Information Session tomorrow Tuesday 19 June in the CAPA Room. The meeting starts at 3:30pm. There will be supervision in the North Playground for the children of parents that are attending. Tea and coffee will be served. If you cannot attend on Tuesday, the team will be posting the content of our session on the school’s website.

NCCD (NATIONAL CONSISTENT COLLECTION OF DATA) Each year the Federal Government harvests information from schools regarding disability. This is completed across all schools in Australia. In our newsletter t h e r e is detailed information regarding the process. Please take the time to read the information. If you have any other questions please contact the school. PEER SUPPORT Session 7 – This week in Peer Support the children learn the need to develop a range of coping strategies. In order to become more resilient, children need to have a number of different ways of coping with difficulties. Through the various activities, children learn to distinguish between helpful, resilient ways of coping and less helpful, non-resilient ways. Discuss with your child the ways they have chosen to cope with difficulties that might arise in their life and encourage them to practise these regularly.

but in the end it was a tie 0-0. We came close to scoring several times but none went into the goal. The player of the match was Aryana for her excellent job as striker. By Hawkesbury 6/5A The A team had also played very well as a team on Friday, but Isaac especially showed his skills as a defender. PSSA GIRLS SOCCER On Tuesday 12 June, the Stage 3 Girls Soccer team played against Epping North Public School at Ron Payne Oval. The game was very intense and the girls enjoyed it a great deal, however, we lost 3-0. Even though we lost, we all had a fun time playing and experiencing the new positions we were given. We would like to give a big thank you to Miss Hill and Mr Streatfeild for being great soccer coaches and to the parents who helped by driving us there and back. We couldn’t have done it without your support and we really appreciate it. By Samritha

TABLE TENNIS THURSDAY Table tennis began last week. Stage 3 students are all welcome to come and play table tennis in the hall. Students can begin lining up at the doors, ready for play at the 2nd half bell. Mr Le

LIBRARY NEWS Library Learning Years 5 and 6 students have been enjoying their literature lessons in library this term based on the books of Dr Seuss. Students have been using the Book Creator app on the IPads to recreate parts of “The Cat in the Hat” story. It has been a great opportunity for students to think creatively and I think we may have a few budding movie directors at the school! Overdue Books This week I will be giving classroom teachers overdue notices to be sent home. This is a good opportunity to have a look around at home for any books that need returning to the library before the end of term. If you have lost a book or think that a book has already been returned to the library please let me know. Lost books will need to be replaced and we ask that parents make a contribution to the cost of the book. Mrs Penny Bulgin Relieving Teacher Librarian
