Opening Prayers

Come Holy Spirit

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send

forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth.

O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by

the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations, Through Christ Our

Lord, Amen.

Reading: James 1: 2-8

Consider it all joy, my brothers, when you encounter various trials, for you know that the

testing of your faith produces perseverance. And let perseverance be perfect, so that you may

be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. But if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God

who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly, and he will be given it. But he should ask in

faith, not doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed

about by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the

Lord, since he is a man of two minds, unstable in all his ways.

Pray, Come, O Spirit of Wisdom, and reveal to my soul the mysteries of heavenly things, their

exceeding greatness, power and beauty. Teach me to love them above and beyond all the

passing joys and satisfactions of earth. Help me to attain them and possess them forever.

Amen.

Novena Prayer to the Holy Spirit

Oh, Holy Spirit, beloved of my soul, I adore you. Enlighten me, guide me, strengthen me,

console me. Tell me what I should do; give me your orders. I promise to submit myself to all

that you desire of me and to accept all that you permit to happen to me. Let me only know your

will.

O Holy Spirit, Giver of every good and perfect gift, grant me, I ask you, the intentions of this

Novena. May Your will be done in me and through me. May You be praised and glorified

forevermore! Amen

are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are obvious: immorality, impurity,

Reading Acts 2: 1-4; 42-47

When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together. And suddenly

there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in

which they were. Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to

rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the holy Spirit and began to speak in

different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim. They devoted themselves to the

teaching of the apostles and to the communal life, to the breaking of the bread and to the

prayers. Awe came upon everyone, and many wonders and signs were done through the

apostles. All who believed were together and had all things in common; they would sell their

property and possessions and divide them among all according to each one’s need.

Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple area and to breaking

bread in their homes. They ate their meals with exultation and sincerity of heart, praising

God and enjoying favor with all the people. And every day the Lord added to their number

those who were being saved.

Pray, Dear Lord Jesus, I renounce Satan and all my sinful ways that keep me separated from you. I

thank you for dying on the Cross in order to save me from my sins and with your Tesurrection

you bring me to new life in you. I wish to surrender myself to you and follow you as the Lord of

my heart. I ask you to baptize me in the Holy Spirit and in power, that I might follow you more

closely and love you more deeply all the days of my life. Let the gifts of the Holy Spirit come

alive in me. In your precious name I pray. Amen

Disciples Called To Witness: The New Evangelization Prayer

Gracious and merciful God, we pray that through the Holy Spirit all Catholics may hear the call

of the New Evangelization and seek a deeper relationship with your Son, Jesus.

We pray that the New Evangelization will renew the Church, inspiring all Catholics to “go forth

and make disciples of all nations”and transform society through the power of the Gospel.

We pray for all members of the Church, that we heed the words of Christ

—“do not be afraid”— and strengthened by the Holy Spirit’s gift of courage,

give witness to the Gospel and share our faith with others.

We pray that we may become like the father of the prodigal son —filled with compassion for

our missing brothers and sisters— and run to embrace them upon their return.

We pray that all people yearning to know Christ and the Church may encounter him through

the faithful who witness to his love in their lives.

Loving God, our Father, strengthen us to become witnesses to the saving grace of your Son,

Jesus, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever

and ever. Amen
