Living our Faith

Labor Day Mass will be at 8 am. Fall Festival is coming up! We're having a scaled-down version of Fall Festival this year but it will still be lots of fun. I hope everyone can come. If you don't have your raffle ticket yet, be sure to fill it out and turn it in for your chance to win (and support the parish). I think that, if we sell out the raffle, we should have the church lights almost entirely paid for. Thank you to everyone who has been giving extra to our building maintenance fund. We'll get these blinking lights taken care of as soon as possible. Young Adults (age 21-35ish) I'm noticing that a LOT of you have started attending Mass here. We occasionally have social events that I would like to invite you to, so please send me your email so we can all stay in touch – [email protected] Our Catechesis of the Good Shepherd class is in need of supplies. If you are able to donate any of the following, the preschool children of the parish will be most appreciative.

•Glue sticks (about 10)

•Colored pencil sets (about 10)

•a low table, maybe an old coffee table would work best, that we can dress up and use as a prayer table

•a small statue of the Holy Family and one of the Good Shepherd. PSR Starts on Tuesday, September 7. You can still sign up at the last minute - https://epiphanystl.org/psr-1 Here's the current Marian Hymn after Mass – Salve Regina, mater misericordiae, vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra salve. O Clemens, o pia, o dulcis virgo Maria. Hail, holy Queen, mother of mercy, Hail our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To you we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to you we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn, then, most gracious advocate, your eyes of mercy toward us; and after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

9 Ways to Pray continued from 8-29 bulletin issue

Journaling: Read slowly the following quote and write in your prayer journal about what strikes you about the quote and how it relates to you personally. Pray for understanding and the grace to respond to God’s call. “Living our Baptism to the full...also means not accustoming ourselves to the situations of degradation and misery that we encounter as we walk along the streets of our cities and towns...We become accustomed to brothers and sisters sleeping on the streets, who have no roof to shelter them. We become accustomed to refugees seeking freedom and dignity, who are not received as they ought to be...Lent comes to us as a providential time to change course to recover the ability to react to the reality of evil which always challenges us. Lent is to be lived as a time of conversion, as a time of renewal for individuals and communities, by drawing close to God and by trustfully adhering to the Gospel. In this way, it also allows us to look with new eyes at our brothers and sisters and their needs.” - Pope Francis, General Audience, 3/5/14

LASM's 15th Anniversary Celebration In late 2006 our Parish along with four other congrega-tions in the Lindenwood Park Neighborhood partnered together to form an ecumenical ministry that would serve the older adult members of our churches and pro-vide outreach to any senior living in the neighborhood around our churches. We recruited leadership, surveyed our parishioners, pooled resources and secured grant funding. From these efforts the planning and building out of programs began and Lindenwood Area Senior Min-istry (LASM) was born! Since that time LASM has worked tirelessly to meet the needs of older adults here at Epiphany and throughout our neighborhood. LASM has been blessed with strong partnerships, generous sup-porters and dedicated volunteers. Important support and beautiful relationships have blossomed and grown. What a blessing! Come help us celebrate the 15 years of community we have had in LASM and all that is to come! Enjoy lunch, fellowship, entertainment, and a timeline of LASM’s first 15 years! Tuesday, September 14th 11:30 am-1:30 pm Outdoors on the front lawn/entry way of Southwest Baptist Church 6401 Scanlan Avenue Boxed lunches by Bubba’s Deli. Entertainment by John + Doe singing big band favorites of the 40s & 50s. Some tables and chairs will be set up, but all who can are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and sun umbrella. $10 suggested donation for the meal, payable on the day of the event. Back up bad weather day will be September 21st. Reservations required: contact Katie at 314-647-4591 or [email protected].
