    Profession of Faith Nicene C

Christian, in whom do you trust?I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things

visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father

before all worlds:God of God,Light of Light, very God of very God;begotten, not made,

being of one substance with the Father,by Whom all things were made;Who, for us men and for our salvation,

    came down from heaven,and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary,and was made man,and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate;He suffered and was buried;and the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures,and ascended into heaven,and sits on the right hand of the Father;

and He shall come again, with glory, to judge the quick and the dead;Whose kingdom shall have no end.And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of Life,

Who proceeds from the Father and the Son,Who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified,Who spoke by the prophets.

And I believe in one holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins. And I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen!

And nowwe can draw near in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled by Jesus blood and our bodieswashed with pure water. We thank you, Father, that when we celebrate this memorial meal, youremember the holy life of your Son lived for us, his death offered for us, his resurrection that gives life

In your mercy, remember your covenant by pouring oyour Holy Spirit upon us, that the bread we break and the cup we bless may be for us a communion inthe body and blood of Christ, that we may become one in him.

    Hebrews 10.1-251

For since the law has but a shadow of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities, it can neby the same sacrifices that are continually offered every year, make perfect those who draw near.

    2Otherwise, wou

they not have ceased to be offered, since the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have anyconsciousness of sin?

3But in these sacrifices there is a reminder of sin every year.

4For it is impossible for the bl

of bulls and goats to take away sins.5

    Consequently, when Christ came into the world, he said, "Sacrifices andofferings you have not desired, but a body have you prepared for me;

6in burnt offerings and sin offerings you hav

    taken no pleasure.7

Then I said, 'Behold, I have come to do your will, O God, as it is written of me in the scroll of thebook.'"

8When he said above, "You have neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt

offerings and sin offerings" (these are offered according to the law),9

then he added, "Behold, I have come to do yowill." He abolishes the first in order to establish the second.

10And by that will we have been sanctified through the

offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.11

And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly t

same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sinhe sat down at the right hand of God,

13waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his f

14For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.

15And the Holy Spirit also be

witness to us; for after saying,16

"This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, declares the Lordwill put my laws on their hearts, and write them on their minds,"

17then he adds, "I will remember their sins and the

    lawless deeds no more."18

Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin.19

Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus,

20by the new and living way that

opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh,21

and since we have a great priest over the house of G22

let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil consciencand our bodies washed with pure water.

23Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who

    promised is faithful.24

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,25

not neglecting to mtogether, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

Matthew 9.1-81And getting into a boat he crossed over and came to his own city.

2And behold, some people brought to him a

paralytic, lying on a bed. And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Take heart, my son; your sins areforgiven."

3And behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, "This man is blaspheming."

    4But Jesus, knowing

their thoughts, said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts?5

For which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' orsay, 'Rise and walk'?

6But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins"- he then s

to the paralytic- "Rise, pick up your bed and go home."7

And he rose and went home.8

When the crowds saw it, thewere afraid, and they glorified God, who had given such authority to men.
