The FBM KLCI index gained 7.28 points or 0.42% on Thursday. The Finance Index in-creased 1.11% to 14907.54 points, the Properties Index up 0.31% to 1189.93 points and the Plantation Index down 0.82% to 7816.04 points. The market traded within a range of 7.53 points between an intra-day high of 1724.29 and a low of 1716.76 dur-ing the session.

Actively traded stocks include MAYBULK, DNONCE, GAMUDA-WE, VIVOCOM, AIRA-SIA, SKPETRO, DRBHCOMC18, ASIAPLY, ASIAPLY-WA and EKA. Trading volume de-creased to 1523.99 mil shares worth RM2161.95 mil as compared to Wednesday’s 1603.98 mil shares worth RM1947.42 mil.

Leading Movers were ASTRO (+13 sen to RM2.97), RHBCAP (+12 sen to RM6.12), PBBANK (+34 sen to RM19.36), SKPETRO (+3 sen to RM1.80) and TENAGA (+24 sen to RM14.42). Lagging Movers were PETGAS (-72 sen to RM21.90), KLK (-54 sen to RM23.96), IOICORP (-9 sen to RM4.49), GENTING (-14 sen to RM9.26) and YTL (-2 sen to RM1.65). Market breadth was positive with 424 gainers as compared to 380 los-ers.

The KLCI extended its mid day gains by ending higher at 1724.29 points amid positive performance in Wall Street after the minutes from the Federal Reserve's March meeting indicated a cautious approach to raising rates.
