The FBM KLCI index gained 10.04 points or 0.56% on Friday. The Finance Index increased 0.63% to15857.19 points, the Properties Index up 0.07% to 1307.39 points and the Plantation Index rose 0.54% to8023.34 points. The market traded within a range of 8.23 points between an intra-day high of 1814.30 and alow of 1806.07 during the session.

Actively traded stocks include ASIABIO, KNM, SANICHI, KRONO, JAG, ETITECH-WA, FOCUS, COM-PUGT, SUMATEC and PUC. Trading volume increased to 1924.54 mil shares worth RM2148.56 mil as com-pared to Thursday’s 1647.80 mil shares worth RM2089.22 mil.

Leading Movers were ASTRO (+16 sen to RM3.14), PETDAG (+82 sen to RM18.88), TENAGA (+28 sen toRM14.82), PBBANK (+34 sen to RM18.78) and BAT (+100 sen to RM69.00). Lagging Movers wereRHBCAP (-14 sen to RM8.00), PPB (-22 sen to RM14.58), MAXIS (-8 sen to RM6.99), PETCHEM (-5 sen toRM5.24) and FGV (-2 sen to RM2.33). Market breadth was positive with 512 gainers as compared to 291losers.

The KLCI ended the week on a positive note, closed higher at 1813.25 points amid the overnight gains in USmarket. Market sentiment has improved following the strengthening in ringgit due to the rises in crude oilprices.
