Greetings!
It has been our constant endeavour to understand the challenges and avenues in the business world. We equip our programmes, pedagogy, and students with the most cutting edge business tools and perspectives suiting the needs of the ever changing business environment. In light of this, our Executive Post Graduate Programme (EPGP) programme has been created with the intention of preparing experienced professionals for senior management roles who can lead organisations in increasingly complex and conflicting situations. At the same time, as the world becomes increasingly global and emerging markets measure up to the developed economies, the dynamics of organisations and demands made on them change. With immense pride and satisfaction, I present to you the second batch of Executive Post Graduate Programme (EPGP) - IIM Bangalore's one year fully residential programme in management, designed specifically for professionals with remarkable track records and a minimum of seven years of experience.
The present batch of EPGP has been selected using rigorous criteria like an excellent GMAT score, a proven professional record commanding respect, and a thoroughly incisive interview which explored various dimensions of a student's personality. Thus we have assembled a group of sixty five bright future managers, drawn from all parts of the country and encompassing a wide spectrum of sectors.
The EPGP course has been purposefully designed to be rigorous, demanding and fast paced so that students are taken out of their comfort zones, and are incessantly challenged to reflect deeply.
The course is a journey in self-discovery as students are constantly made to delve deeper, and push themselves harder, exhorted by an experienced Faculty, on critical and challenging problems from the business arena. Thus gradually, the course carves out leaders who think like individuals of action and act like individuals of thought.
The present batch of EPGP has been equipped with all the keenness and tools required to confront the challenges of middle and senior management roles. The Executive Post Graduate Programme (EPGP) offered by the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB), fulfils a vital need of the corporate sector by providing world class management education to experienced managers. The pace of economic development and resulting competitive dynamics have caused firms to seek competent senior and mid level executives. Specifically, there is a rapidly growing demand for executives with the breadth and depth of knowledge and expertise essential for sustaining growth and enhancing competitiveness. This is a global phenomenon and the EPGP is designed to cater to this very need.
Corporations across the world are grappling with the forces of globalization and change. The environmental complexity is deepened by the expanding influence of technology evolution and shifting socio-political equations. Firms which are attuned to these realities are acutely aware of the need to reinforce their capabilities in order to effectively tackle the challenges and remain competitive. The frontlines of these battlefields are increasingly being manned by both mid and senior level executives. Undoubtedly, organizational sustenance and survival is directly dependent on the caliber, competence and capabilities of these executives. The EPGP bridges this gap by virtue of its selection criteria, curriculum design and delivery.
The Executive Post Graduate Program (EPGP) is a fully residential one year post graduate program which prepares students for mid and senior level management roles. The program offers general management education imparted by a remarkable faculty. The experience profile of the current batch of sixty five students ranges from seven to twenty four years who have substantial functional experience and domain knowledge. The learning experience is significantly enhanced by peer learning enabled both by formal and informal mechanisms. The mix of experienced managers, remarkable faculty and superior curriculum is a potent combination that equips the student with knowledge and skills needed to excel in an increasingly complex business environment.

IT services, consulting, operations, and even defence. Almost everyone has
considerable international exposure. I would rate this Class high on analytical

making sense of financial statements, budgets and costs, should enable them to

The faculty body of the institute comprises of academicians highly regarded in their fraternity and are, arguably some of the best minds of the country. EPGP Course Design: An International Curriculum
Seminars: A Realm Beyond Management
International Immersion
The defining feature of the program is its exhaustive curriculum. The content is customized to the needs of experienced managers and is highly relevant while being challenging. The faculty regularly revises the curriculum to reflect industry & environmental trends.
In addition to the core courses, there is a broad array of electives to choose from. There is ample opportunity to select function specific electives based on one's preferences. The subject area departments have multiple faculty with specialized focus; thus providing the opportunity to gain deep functional knowledge.
The method of instruction is primarily case based, supplemented with exhaustive subject matter literature and texts. The cases help students immerse in the realities of business and feel its dilemmas, challenges and risks. The combination of expert faculty, students, and superior curriculum design provides the basis for rich and rewarding learning experiences.
Most learning activities are group-based and include project work. Thus, there is a judicious mix of theoretical rigour and application orientation which help in laying a firm foundation of knowledge gained through "learning by doing".
The seminar series provides a platform for interfacing with practitioners from diverse sectors including corporate, non-profit, regulatory agencies as well as accomplished speakers from the fields of science, arts, spirituality, medicine, etc. The aim is to provide exposure to a variety of perspectives and inculcate an appreciation for all realms of education, business, and life. In addition to enhancing classroom instruction, the seminars make students sensitive to the prevailing trends in different sectors.

The international study course is the last of the core terms and includes a 15 day tour of a major economy. The visit schedule is customized by IIMB in partnership with one of the leading business schools in the country to be visited. During the week preceding the tour, subject matter experts and industry captains are invited to provide a multi-dimensional overview; this provides the context for the visit. The schedule is so designed as to provide holistic exposure to the economic, political, socio-cultural and business environment of the country visited.
The present batch of EPGP visited South Korea for its international immersion which was organized by KAIST Business School, Seoul. As part of the programme, the students visited the plants of LG, Doosan, GM Daewoo, SK Telecom, and Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering and interacted with the top level executives of these companies. The visits to plants were augmented by the classroom sessions conducted by faculty of KAIST, and professionals from firms like McKinsey & Company, Bain & Company, Korean Exchange Bank, and LG.

ks The Pre-placement talk is a platform for interaction between the company and the students. The representatives of the company share the profile of the company, key aspects of its business, work environment, and opportunities available to students. The presentation is followed by a Q&A session where students interact with company officials to get a better understanding of the company and potential roles.
A typical pre-placement session is scheduled for 90 minutes. In view of the academic calendar of the students, the sessions are scheduled between 4pm to 6pm on weekdays, and between 8am and 8pm hours on Saturdays and Sundays.
Interested students apply to the company through the placement committee. A detailed resume is submitted by the student as part of the application process.
EPGP students have substantial work experience and have been inducted through a rigorous selection process. We therefore follow a grade and GMAT score non-disclosure policy.

interview gives the company and the student an opportunity to discuss the role in detail and make the right choice. The final placement process is conducted over an extended period of time beginning in the first week of November. This gives the companies ample time for customized selection processes that may be required, given the lateral hiring process. Companies are requested to schedule their final placement interviews at least 3 weeks after their pre-placement talk.

e The company can make an offer to the student after the final interview. The offer should include details of role, location, remuneration, and other relevant terms and conditions required by the candidate to make a decision. The acceptance of offer is governed by placement rules of the institute. At the end of the process the decision of the student is conveyed to the company by the placement committee.
With this process, our intent is to make the placement process conducive to both the companies and the students. We will consider any additional company specific requirements over and above the process outlined.
