Aam Aadmi affectedThis is with reference toGovt fuel diesel, gas prices;hits aam aadmi hard(June25) After a huge amount ofloss to the nations exchequerfollowing corruption ofUPA2s politicians, now it hasresolved to be on the road ofcomplete loss recovery by hik-ing prices in diesel by Rs3 perlitre, kerosene by Rs2 andcooking gas by Rs50 more percylinder. To raise prices everysucceeding month has becomea habit with UPA. The govern-ment is committed to giverespite to companies in corpo-rate tax and not taking care of500 crore unemployed and 200crore who are subjected to co-ercion and constrained towork at their superficial levelin this countr y. To describe it

as a modest and minimal in-crease is to play with dignityof common people. The jolt ofprice hike has sent ripples offear in poor, middle-class andeven well-to-do people. The op-position parties must protestacross the country and de-mand an immediate rollbackof an unacceptable price hike.

As per government statementoil firms currently loseRs15.44 per litre on diesel, Rs27.47 per litre on kerosene andRs381.14 on the sale of everydomestic LPG cylinder and asa result the alarming situa-tion created by the massiveunder recoveries of the oilcompanies which are project-ed to touch Rs1,71,141 crore

during 2011-12. People are un-able to digest the petroleumminister Jaipal Reddys state-ment that even after the cen-tral government has entirelyeliminated customs duty oncrude, reduced customs dutyon petroleum products anddrastically reduced exciseduty on diesel, then why thereare huge under recoveries ofthe oil companies? Why thegovernment is not restructur-ing the taxes on petroleum

products? Why the govt is notgiving the breakdown of thefuel cost? How much petrol ordiesel is extracted from onebarrel crude? What is the taxcomposition or productioncosts or transportation costsor middleman costs allcompared to the final price. This way the public would beaware if our oil companiesare efficient in their produc-tion and who is being paidwhat. I am sure there is some-thing wrong in our pricingand there is an urgent need toknow the breakdown of thefuel costs.

    Stay away from sports

Politicians should stay awayfrom specialised field like

sports and not meddle into it.This refers to Run...Lets seewho pips whom to the MCAchief s post (June 25). It is nosecret any more. Wheneverany politician gets into the af-fairs of sports club like Mum-bai Cricket Association, theatmosphere is vitiated. Thepresent incumbent SharadPawar is not keen to give upas the chief of MCA. Even for-mer Maharashtra CM Vilas-rao Deshmukh has thrown inhis hat for the post. Anothercontestant is veteran and for-mer cricket captain DilipVengsarkar and he is justifiedbecause of his long associa-tion with the cricket sport andgreat contribution as a playerand the captain. The politi-cians have scant knowledge ofcricket and do not have any

role to play in the local club, even then they make inroadsin to it and politicise thesporting activities of thecountry, probably for the per-sonal gain and benefits. Thistrend must be stopped if wewant transparency in thesports field.

    Cruel LPG

Apropos LPG-hit housewivesfret and fume (June 25), therise in the price of diesel maybe minimal but that in the do-mestic gas cylinders is cruel. One wonders how the house-wives will manage to cook twomeals a day if the cylindershave to be paid more thanRs400. For a family of four, acylinder will last only for

about 20 days and so threecylinders will be needed fortwo months now. Already theman of the house is obliged tokeep his car or scooter athome and walk or cycle to hisoffice and now with the cylin-ders costing a lot more, thewoman in the house will haveto find ways to minimise theconsumption of gas like load-ing the pressure cookers withmore food items almost on thelines of a whole family of fourtravelling by a single scooter.Mentioning that the cylindersin Sri Lanka and Pakistancost more than Rs850 is no jus-tification or a consolation ei-ther. It is high time that thepoliticians allow the commonman to survive.

Master Plan 2025 to focus on green JaipurDNA Correspondent

The landowners in rural areas, now, will be permitted to run only eco-friend-ly occupations and industrial activitieswill not be allowed on their land.

Proposing a new amendment in thedraft of Jaipur Master Plan-25 the JaipurDevelopment Authority (JDA) has con-verted land use of 226 square km rural ar-eas into ecological zone which was told in-sufficient earlier for city environment byexperts.

According to the sources, the planningcell of the JDA has added huge chunk ofland into ecological area. This area isaround 226 km which has been taken outfrom rural areas comprising 723 km.

Sources added that now the ecologicalareas now has become 868 square kmwhile the authority earlier proposed it

just 672 km. With this additional land

the ecological area has become 30 percent out of 2939 km area planned forJaipur in 2025, confirmed JDA addi-t ional chief town plannerP Arvind.

Under this amendment the rural ar-eas stretching in north-east and north-west in city map has been converted intoecological areas.

This area mainly compromises Jhot-wara, Vaishali Nagar, Kalwa r, Mu-ralipura and Vishwakarma.

With this development the JDA hastried to correct mistake which JDA com-mitted by reserving only 672 km ecolog-ical area, only 21.84 per cent.

Also the JDA tried to incorporate sug-gestions raised by people representativesand media which called the ecologicalarea insufficient for ecological system incity.

However the land holder in convert-ed land will not face major problemswith this conversion.

The sources clarified that the holdersand farmers will be permitted to run re-

sorts, restaurants which are permissiblein ecological areas. Also they will be ableto operate meditation centers, stadium, farm house and garden in these areas.

But they will not be allowed to set up fac-tory and industry which was permissi-ble, somehow, in rural area.

The ecological area is aimed to con-serve natural features such as hills, riv-er bodies, reserved forest, heritage con-servation area and habitats of migra-tory birds.

The zone is reserved and to be pro-tected from any development.

The area need to cater to therespective use. For example if it is waterchannel, it has to be maintained ac-cordingly and no development

    activity.

JDAs planning cell adds huge chunk of land into ecological area, holders and farmers will be permitted to run resorts, restaurants here
