• ESTABLISHMENT OF THE AGENCY
The Agency is a body of the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning
Decree on the establishment of the Agency was published in the “Official Gazette” (Off. Gazette, no. 68/08 ).
By establishing the Environmental Protection Agency, conditions have been met for the implementation of EU environmental standards and goals
The Government of Montenegro established the Environmental Protection Agency in November 2008.

International Cooperation
- cooperation with WWF (Word Wild Fund) i OSCE is being carried out in part of the Arhuus convention implementation;
- with WWF also for “NATURA 2000” - Cooperation takes place in the form of gas inventory preparation for the LRTAP Convention (Convention on
Long-Range Transoboundary Air Pollution) - Training of officials of the Agency on the use of software to process data from all sectors of environmental
protection.
- Cooperation with UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) and UN relates to the training for the of
use of GIS (Geografic information system); - on a project to develop indicators and exchange data (program of the Millennium Development Goals,
organized by UNDP and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs)

International Cooperation
- IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) is responsible for developing international
standards for safety and protection of health, environment and property from ionizing radiation and providing assistance to countries in building appropriate mechanisms-assessment and training.
- EK (European Comission) – Multiuser IPA 2007 project – Assessment of regulatory infrastructure in the field of nuclear safety and radiation protection in Albania, Bosnia, Macedonia, Kosovo, Serbia and Montenegro.
- EEA - (European Environment Agency) - EU organization whose role is to provide reliable and independent information on the environment.
- Cooperation with the European Agency for the Protection of the environment is achieved largely through the European Environment Information and Observation Network (EIONET).
- CERN (Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire), i.e. European Organization for Nuclear Research, based near Geneva

• Actively improve the ecological status of Montenegro in a professional manner, serving thus nature, health, and economic interests of present and future generations, with a vision of Montenegro as a country in which it is possible to live in harmony with nature
