• It is an elite institution of higher education

• Named after one of it professors, the world famous physicist, Loránd Eötvös

• Over the last hundred years, the university has had many world famous scientists and four Nobel Prize laureates among the teachers and alumni

• Current number of students has reached 32,000 and staff consists of 1800 teachers and researchers

• 5% of courses at the college are taught in foreign languages which include English• Courses in English and German Language

• A language test certificate is not required

• The Foreign Language Training Institute of Eötvös Loránd University provides a preparatory training program in English and Hungarian languages

Crime and Security

• Budapest is a relatively safe city, but it is still a large city

• Be aware of your belongings and the people around you• Pick-pocketers usually target tourist areas

• Avoid demonstrations or political rallies• These can sometimes turn violent

for not carrying your passport with you

• Many crimes involve alcohol• Robbery, physical and sexual assault

• Recent scams in Hungary occur in bars where drinks cost hundreds of dollars• Make sure you see a menu with listed prices and never

leave your drink alone with anyone

• Carry minimal cash and a cell phone to communicate

• Stay in groups or pairs

summers; pack appropriately for the season
