Principles• Present equivalent of the MAC service interface to the OAM sublayer – allowing existing OAM
implementations to interface with UMT
• The OAM to UMT Adaptation layer (OUAL) is specific to adapting OAM to UMT. Other protocols will have their own adaptation layer.
• OUAL is an implementation of the abstract client adaptation layer described in the base UMT protocol definition
