EOA.Projects at The Armory Show EOAPROJECTS.COM @EOAPROJECTS #EOAPROJECTS EOA.PROJECTS GALLERY 40 ELCHO STREET LONDON SW11 4AU ARTISTS Rashed Al Shashai Born in Al Baha, Saudi Arabia in 1977, Rashed Al Shashai holds a Master of Visual Arts degree and is a prominent figure of the contemporary Saudi art scene. As a conceptual artist and arts educator, Al Shashai has been influential to a new generation of Saudi talent while also nurturing local artistic practices as a founding member of the Saudi Arabia Fine Arts society and the Art Education Society. Additionally, Al Shashai is the founder and director of Tasami Centre for Visual Arts, an independent space that supports cutting-edge art in the Kingdom. Al Shashai has widely exhibited in the Arab Gulf and abroad at such venues and events as Art Dubai (2012); the Annual Exhibition of Emirates Fines Arts Society, Sharjah Art Museum (2012); and the Ostraka International Forum, Sharm Al Sheikh. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including First Prize from the Media Art Show, Riyadh (2011). Mounir Fatmi Born in 1970 in Tangier, Morocco, Fatmi lives and works between Paris and Tangier. The focus of his work is varied, but notions of deconstructing ideologies and religious dogmas, as well as death and consumption are common themes. He works in film and video installation, drawing, painting and sculpture. Fatmi’s work has been shown in numerous solo exhibitions in such spaces as the Migros Museum für Gegenwarskunst, Zürich, Switzerland, The National Picasso Museum ‘War and Peace’, Vallauris, FRAC Alsace, Sélestat, and The Contemporary Art Center Le Parvis, at the Fondazione Collegio San Caro, Modena. He participated in several group shows at the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; The Brooklyn Museum, New York; Museum Kunstpalast, Düsseldorf; Mori Art Museum, Tokyo; Museum on the Seam, Jerusalem; Moscow Museum of Modern Art, Moscow; Mathaf PROJECTS EOA. His installations have been selected for biennials such as the 52nd and 54th Venice Biennial, the 8th biennial of Sharjah, the 5th and 7th Dakar Biennial, the 2nd Seville Biennial, the 5th Gwangju Biennial and the 10th Lyon Biennial.

Yazan Khalili Born in 1981, lives and works in and out of Palestine. Yazan Khalili received a degree in Architecture from Birzeit University (2003) and graduated with a Masters degree from Goldsmith’s College, University of London (2010). He was one of the founding members of Zan Design Studio (2005) and a finalist in the A. M. Qattan Foundation’s Young Artists Award (2006), as well as an artistin- residence at The Delfina Foundation in London (2008) and The Danish Film School (2006). He was the production Coordinator for Sharjah Biennials 9 and 10. He taught Politics of Production course at the International Art Academy - Palestine, and co-curated along with Reem Shilleh the Young Artist of the Year Award (YAYA 2012). His writings and photographs have been featured in publications such as Manifesta Journal, Frieze, Race & Class, C-Print, Ibraaz, Contemporary Art: World Currents, and Subjective atlas of Palestine. Khalili has had solo shows at Imane Fares Gallery in Paris, Transit Gallery in Belgium, French Cultural Centres in Palestine and The Delfina Foundation in London. He has participated in group shows in Ramallah, Amman, Rome, Granada, Dubai, London, Venice, Berlin and Sharjah. Khalili’s work has been acquired by the British Museum and Sharjah Art Foundation, among others.

Oraib ToukanBorn in 1977, Toukan is an artist and also heads the Arts Division at Al Quds Bard College, Palestine. She graduated from Bard College with an MFA in Photography under a full Jacob Javitz Fellowship. Recent exhibitions include the 11th Istanbul Biennial, the Asia Pacific Triennial, the Mori Art Museum, the Serpentine Gallery Map Marathon, Kunstraum Muenchen, and the BrotKunsthalle. Her works often looks to unpack historiographic absurdities specific to exhibition making using discreet institutional interventions. Until 2013 she was visiting faculty at the International Academy of Fine Arts in Ramallah, Palestine. Since 2011 she has been researching, restoring, digitizing and remaking works from a found collection of 900 film reels from former soviet cultural centers in Jordan. Among these films are early productions for past members of the Palestine Film Unit, the filmic arm of the PLO.

EOA.PROJECTS

EOA.Projects was established in 2009 as a gallery platform for artists working between the Middle East, Europe and United States. Under the vision of Stephen Stapleton, founder of Edge of Arabia and The Crossway Foundation, EOA.Projects collaborates with artists in building their careers and realising their potential to an international standard. Through production studios in London and Jeddah, EOA.Projects supports artists in developing new projects including limited edition fine art prints and special commissions. In 2012, EOA.Projects opened a 400m sq. gallery in South-West London with a curated programme of exhibitions, film-screenings and talks aimed at international audiences.
