Welcome dinner we invite everyone arriving early on the 26th to join us for a small welcome dinner at the restaurant ‘Luise’, food and drinks will be provided

The restaurant can be reached with public transport using the U3 either from the station ‘Thielplatz’, for the people accommodated at the ‘Harnackhaus’, or from Oskar-Helene-Heim, for people staying at the Apartment Hotel Berlin. The restaurant ‘Luise’ is located just around the corner from the ‘Dahlem Dorf’ station, which depending from where you start is either one or two stops.

Speakers

Prof. Dr. Smriti Das, TERI University Dr. Smriti Das is an Associate Professor at the Department of Policy Studies. Her research pertains to institutions, policies and politics of resource management and issues pertaining to rural development in India. While at CISED and ATREE she looked extensively at the issue of diversion of forestland for non-forest use (from a political economy perspective) and the implementation of Forest Rights Act of 2006.

Dr. Sunayana Ganguly, FU BerlinDr. Sunayana Ganguly is a recent PhD graduate from the Freie Universität Berlin Environmental Policy Research Center. Her research focuses on norm diffusion and the role of networks in shaping Biodiversity Policy in India.

Prof. Dr. Joyeeta Gupta, University of AmsterdamDr. Joyeeta Gupta is a professor of environment and development in the global south at the Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research of the University of Amsterdam and UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education in Delft. She is also a member of the Amsterdam Global Change Institute and a lead author in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

Sourabh JainSourabh Jain is a PhD student at the Teri University, his research focuses on sustainable urban development.

Dr. Kirsten Jörgensen, FU BerlinDr. Kirsten Jörgensen is senior lecturer at the Department of Political and Social Sciences. She was a member of the Berlin Parliament from 1987 to 1989 and received her Ph. D. in 1996 at Freie Universität Berlin. She initiated the German-Indian Sustainability and Climate Change student exchange and is coordinator of the Indian-European Multi-level Climate Governance Research Network. Since 2013 she is a member of the Indo-German Expert Group on Green and Inclusive Economy.

Prof. Dr. Philipp Pattberg, VU University AmsterdamDr. Philipp Pattberg is professor of transnational environmental governance and policy at VU University Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He specializes in the study of global environmental politics, with a focus on climate change governance, biodiversity, forest and fisheries governance, transnational relations, public-private partnerships, network theory and institutional analysis. Pattberg’s current research scrutinizes institutional complexity, functional overlaps and fragmentation across environmental domains.

Speakers

D. Raghunandan, Delhi Science ForumD. Raghunandan is the Director of the Centre for Technology & Development at the Society for Economic & Social Studies and President of All India People’s Science Network (AIPSN). He also volunteers with the Delhi Science Forum where he contributes to research and campaigns in the areas of Environment, Climate Change & Water Resources, Aerospace, and Disarmament & Strategic Affairs. He currently leads the AIPSN campaign on Climate Change, conducts research and modeling exercises, and has published extensively in India and abroad with focus on India’s climate policy and international negotiations.

Dr. Jagmohan SharmaDr. Jagmohan Sharma works for the Indian Forest Service at the Karnataka forest department, he holds a PhD from the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore.

Dr. Rainer Quitzow, IASS PotsdamDr. Rainer Quitzow is the project coordinator of the Transdisciplinary Panel on Energy Change at the IASS in Potsdam. His research focuses on sustainable innovation and industrial policy and governance of the energy transition in Germany and beyond. Prior to his position at the IASS, Rainer has held positions as a research fellow at the FFU in Berlin and as a policy consultant at the World Bank in Washington DC.
