If compared to other theories the Utilitarian one can be seen as harsh since it focus on the general

wellbeing and not a single person or population.

The picture bellow represents the areas around the United States that suffered Fracking Accidents. Even though fracking may benefit a small population or nation, producing cheaper oil, more jobs and an economical boost; the global society is badly impacted by its environmental risks.

Based on the utilitarianism, actions like fracking should not be used because of its high risk to global society. The

global wellbeing should be put ahead of capital gain.
