With dramatic changes in learning and teaching styles, an anytime/anywhere approach is now an approach many schools are investigating by looking at the possibility and feasibility of allowing students to bring their own devices into the school.

With 1:1 Schemes such as Accessibility, students are able to access broad, interactive learning resources as and when needed and at their own pace. This really works for a fl ipped approach to learning - transforming any space into a learning environment.

Closing the attainment gapThe government has recently increased the Pupil Premium funding by 45% to enable you to support disadvantaged pupils and closing the attainment gap – making it even more attractive to look at launching a sustainable 1:1 scheme.Pupils can benefi t from a 1:1 Scheme by:

Improved pupil achievement• Access to a wide range of resources• Getting students online• Improved collaboration in class• Anytime anywhere approach to learning• Equipping students with crucial working life • IT skillsImproved learning and teaching methods•

As a school, the benefi ts to you are:Flexible warranty to support the payment term• Fully insured devices with no excess payments• No administration burden – we manage this • from end to end including paymentsNo VAT• We will fully support the marketing and launch • of the scheme to your students’ parentsDesigned for modern and traditional education• Stabilises the life cycle of technology• Increasing parent engagement•

We can provide various devices as part of the Accessibility Scheme all from Apples product range (*as well as Android, Windows and Chrome based devices) which we recommend, but not enforce schools take out insurance and warranty to match the payment term, this minimises any risk of students not having access to a device to aid their learning and as there are no access charges, represent very good value.

Infrastructure

Meru Managed WirelessWith more and more schools looking at introducing pupil owned devices to their schools, or increasing their mobile provision, infrastructure has never been more important to support these devices and ensuring teachers are confident the technology will not let them down whilst in lesson.

At Entrust, we have partnered with Meru to provide our managed wireless networks to our primary and secondary schools. Meru has been designed specifically to support education and the technology allows devices to seamlessly connect to the network by using single channel technology that allows devices to effectively share the air time to ensure each connected device gets equal access and the performance is high across the entire school.

In addition, Meru now takes advantage of the latest wireless speed, with the latest ratification being AC that is capable of delivering 1.4 gbps through each access point (does need Gigabit ports) and taking advantage of devices that use 5 Ghz frequency (common with iPad and iPhone) therefore not restricting or bottlenecking data to and from devices.

As part of a school BYOD Strategy, it’s important to provide access to unmanaged devices that are student owned or guests (teacher training, governors etc) might be bringing into the school. An option for your school is to implement IDM (Identity Management) and Smart Connect software that is installed onto the Meru Controller to allow functionality such as timed guest access, supporting pre-paid and credit card billing for guest access if applicable and is device agnostic, with all of today’s devices being compatible with Apple, Android and Windows based devices.

Our range includes: Primary Bundle• Secondary Bundle• BYOD Software• Smoothwall UTM•
