Bakers needed for the UMW Annual Thanksgiving Bake Sale on Sunday Nov. 18, 10am-12.15pm. We would be ever so grateful for any and all contributions! Contact Joyce Saunderson. *The Open Doors Food Pantry is short 30 Thanksgiving Dinners of our goal. Each dinner is $30, and it will provide a dinner to a family in need. If you want to buy one, please put a check in the offering plate made out to Mt. Zion UMC, and in the memo line write "Food Pantry Thanksgiving dinner". Thank you so much for all of your support!

*Operation Christmas Child– You may still participate in this program by filling a regular shoe box. To decorate it, WRAP THE BOTTOM AND TOP SEPARATELY. They must be opened for inspection and insertion of Bible material. Information sheets and label brochures are on the tables in the narthexes. Filled boxes are due back November 11th or 18th. *Winter clothing, blanket, and food drive for Ames UMC in West Baltimore: We are collecting winter items for those in need in Baltimore City. Drop off gently used blankets, clothing, coats, hats, gloves, and scarves in the collection bin located in the west narthex. We are also accepting nonperishable holiday food items. The collection will continue through Friday November 16th. Items will be distributed during the community outreach event at Ames UMC on Saturday November 17th.

*Rock 2019 is coming up February 8-10. The speaker this year is Ben Glenn, The Chalkguy, and the band is Salvador. In order to purchase tickets and make hotel reservations we need to have a firm headcount and $75 deposit by the time of youth fellowship on October 28. *The Care Giver’s Group meets the 3rd Sunday of every month between services, in the church library. Contact Judy H. Johnson.

*A Shoe box to collect Box Tops for Education is being placed in the church entry way. The local elementary school collects them to earn money to purchase items for their school. They will be collected and donated. Thank You, Marcy McAdoo.

Through Our Prayers: As a shepherd cares for the sheep, so also will Christ watch over His followers. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayers. Please pray for the Commission on the Way Forward as their final report has been released. They have brought forth three possible directions our UMC may be moving in the future in regards to the issues related to the report. A Special Session of the General Conference is scheduled for Feb. 23-26, 2019 in St. Louis to deliberate and make decisions on the way forward.
